Default Convincing performances you did not believe...

Afternoon all and apologies for having been away for a while.

A quick poser for anyone who's interested - whose performances on UM would have scored highly for 'artistic merit', were sort of convincing and seemed to make logical sense up to a point, but you came away simply not believing them, or they were later disproved?

There are many good liars in the world and UM is no exception to this, although spotting a convincing liar is a pretty difficult thing to do without some sort of intuition or tip-off (i.e. he's a politician!!).

Over and out,

I still think it's possible that Rob Shafer made up the whole story about his girlfriend Angela Hammond being abducted from the phone booth. I lean towards not believing it with a slight chance that it is all actually true.

I would like to know more details from Rob about what exactly Angela was doing before the point that she reached the phone booth on the main road of the town.

Stuart Heaton seemed fairly convincing in his segment - enough that even with the paring wounds to his hands and the eyewitness accounts of his particular vehicle being at the victim's home, if there hadn't been DNA evidence that further corroborated the case against him, the possibility is that reasonable doubt might have won out at the trial.

There isn't a single, solitary piece of evidence that links Rob Shafer to this crime. None. It's a theory that was born out of people obsessed with the case and trying to look impressive by "thinking outside of the box". If you know more or want to elaborate, please share.

And being that Rob wasn't with Angela in the moments immediately preceeding her abduction, how could he possibly know what she was doing?

There isn't any evidence or witnesses (besides Rob's account) that can prove that there was a dirty, bearded man whom abducted Angela Hammond and drove a truck with a fish decal on the back, either.

Stephen Geri is a guy whom I found convincing to a point until it became apparent that he was going out of his way to look TOO convincing. There was no real evidence against him, but the way he asked for receipts at all those businesses and then went back there the day after the murder to remind everyone he had been there just reeks of a guy trying way too hard to establish an alibi.

Yes! That whole the-one-morning-I-change-my-routine-my-wife-gets-murdered thing never set well with me.

He was cleared as a suspect in 1992, most likely because phone records could verify the call from the payphone to the Shafer house. And because Rob's little brother could verify that he was babysitting him that entire time.

I'm really, REALLY surprised people still think he was responsible for her abduction.

The "Confess Your Crime" guys were pretty convincing even though they were lying.

Lisa Penz. She was soooo lying when she said that basically everyone that came through the door to apply for a job was on drugs. Total BS! She only said that to down play the fact that she didn't do proper background checks and reference checks when hiring Bonnie Wilder.

Jeffrey MacDonald

Glenn Consagra
John Branion
Stuart Heaton

I'm still amazed that people still want to blame Rob Shaffer. The guy was ruled out as a suspect by authorities shortly after Angela Hammond was abducted.

I never thought John Branion was guilty.
