I know Demond had a cocaine problem during the later part (I think) of the show. But I read something somewhere awhile back I found hard to believe...it said that when Sanford And Son went off the air, Demond Wilson tried to get Norman Lear to give him a show of his own. I know this happened and that they didn`t because he wanted too much money. But then it said when he refused, Demond chased Norman Lear with a gun!! Did this really happen? I can`t imagine it...maybe the writers didn`t get their facts straight...who knows...anyone out there know?

I have not heard of either incident, however, if either incident were true, than there would have certainly been a lot of publicity surrounding this. There is so much misinformation reported as facts these days, that it has become ridiculous. I just hope that this information is not coming from one of the tabloids, which make up stories just to sell papers.
After Sandford and Son, Demond Wilson did star in his own series called "Baby I'm Back", it was a summer replacement series in 1978. However, the series did not generate enough ratings to be picked up during the fall. That series also starred Denise Nicholas, and gave us our first introduction to Kim Fields. As far as Demond Wilson's lifestyle is concerned, he is an ordained Minister. He spent most of the late 70s and 80s ministering to inmates in prison. I believe he now owns his own internet company, and he has recently devoted much of his time to running that. He did an interview with Entertainment Tonight and talked about his ministry, acting and business. Never did the subject of drugs or violence against Norman Lear come up. If those incidents were true, Entertainment Tonight would have mentioned this. Did you know that Demond Wilson has a photographic memory? That proved to be useful during the Sanford and Son series run, because he only had to look at his lines once, whereas the other actors had to spend alot of time memorizing their lines. |

Thanks Tiger32 for the additional info on Demond Wilson. I knew he was a minister and have heard him speak on one of the Christian networks. I really loved Sanford and Son. I always thought that Red Foxx was much older than he actually was. All the actors and actresses were super! Loved Aunt Esther!

Kim Fields was on the show Good Times once as a little girl. I didn't know she was on that Demond Wilson show Baby I'm Back.
