Default WARNING: THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL JOKE!!!

Starting Monday, April 1, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. ET, The Game Show Network will begin airing reruns of the hit TV game show Sale of the Century (NO JOKE!!!)

Hosted by Jim Perry and airing from January 3, 1983 - March 24, 1989 on the NBC Television Network, Sale of the Century had 3 contestants answer trivia questions for cash, spending their money on shopping prizes in between.

One notable contestant on the show was future Studs & Big Deal host Mark DeCarlo, who in 1985 was an aspiring actor originally from Chicago, living in Los Angeles, California struggling to make his big break, which came 6 years later as the host of Studs, which was The Dating Games meets Love Connection.

UPDATE: in addition to Sale coming to GSN with a lease of 65 episodes the network will also air new episodes of PYL...but only 57 of these are acquired *sigh*

anywho here's the breaking news for both shows:http://tv.broadwayworld.com/article/...k-Ups-20130320

also the article same-old-same-old mentions Password Plus, Super Password and Match Game as well.

Now if hasbro and fremantle would settle out their differences and get the rights to air Scrabble on GSN maybe even High Rollers (Trebek and/or Martindale), Davidson's Squares and Classic Concentration or the 1958-1973 original but hey beggers can't be choosers right?

I'm glad mostly that they're giving us some of $ale! It's been forever since I saw that. I'm also looking forward to seeing Kennedy P+ again.

Question

Why would anyone think this is an April Fools joke? That's 12 days from now.

Yeah I'm Glad for $OTC arrival for GSN as well, but seriously can someone tell me why does GSN have to acquire a short-number of new PYL episodes of up to 57?

Nobody thought it would ever air. GSN/Game Show Network has been around for 20 years and never had the rights to it.

They aired the 50 episodes previous to that (the first 50) as well as the episodes after that. Numerous times as a matter of fact. The only other episodes that haven't aired are the very late 85 and 86 ones.

I guess that makes sense, my thinking was that the poster who has been banned several times already didn't want anyone to think that he was playing an April Fools joke.

That I already knew although personally I wish it were a joke. I never cared much for it but for those that do like it I'm glad they'll be able to see it again.

I know That's the only package of PYL episodes that GSN hasn't aired yet, I mean first in 2001 when they started airing the 1984 episodes (including the epic Michael Larson 2-parter) they ordered 200 episodes then when they got the 1985 episodes they ordered 200 more. then in 2012 GSN has ordered 50 episodes from the 1983 era and now in 2013 they are ordering 57 more episodes from late 83 to early 84.

I'm just thinking that GSN will probably do the same thing when the 1985-1986 episode arrive down the road. (ordering 50 instead of 200 episodes strategy of course).

Well, I for one loooved that show as a kid in the 80's. I watched a couple of eps on youtube a few weeks ago. I'm glad it is back. Can't wait to see it. That was my favorite game show of all time during that era.

BTW, what is PYL?

Great. Thanks for clearing that up. These abbreviations get to be too much sometimes. Anyway, I noticed that Press Your Luck was back on Game Show Network again. That is great. I look forward to Sale of the Century as well.

no problem I guess when some people don't know their "abbreviations" sometimes we can get to be "aging" up a little bit, but that's ok.

BTW, the year when classic Press Your Luck returned to GSN was last year in 2012.

now this maybe wishful thinking but do you guys think that GSN will acquire some if not all of these classics down the road:

Scrabble
High Rollers (Trebek or Martindale)
Concentration/Classic Concentration (might be a problem due to NBCUniversal)
Hollywood Squares (Davidson)
Wipeout (Tomarken)
Supermarket Sweep
Shop 'Til You Drop
