Good question, but they should!

I wish this show would last up to eight seasons instead. Will has to graduate from college, then he has to get a new job, then he has to look a for a woman to marry, and finally, they have to return to Philadelphia afterwards.

They did not measure this show properly at all, and this type of fiction is not strong enough!

I think it ended where it was supposed to. Ironically, Will stays out west while the rest of the family moves to the Northeast part of the country. LOL.

If there was a Season 7: 1) Will finishes college and 2) Will gets a new job. Then if there was a Season 8, the final season: 1) Will finds a new woman to marry and 2) Will and his new wife return to Northeast together!

This phrase:

"Will stays out west while the rest of the family moves to the Northeast part of the country."

sounds very narrow and weak! I don't know why do you have say that, but Season 6 was the wrong place to end before he graduates from college? That is poor measurement on that show!

Weak? Whoa! Is that an insult toward my comment? Because that is exactly what happened in the show. Everybody went their own ways and wound up in the northeastern part of the country while Will stayed out west. Besides, Will was acquainted with a close friend of mine in high school and per my friend (Feb 1995) Will said that when the 95-96 season begins, it will be the last. So production was coming to an end anyway.

If your comment was intended to insult mine, try to be more respectful, please. I was only stating the truth. Plus, the show ended where it should have. Had it been a seventh season, there could have been more closure true but Will was ready to move on.

It could be interesting to see a reunion movie- especially if it depicted Will becoming a rapper- it would be interesting to see the changes in the rap music scene from the late '80s to early '90s sound of the rap theme song Will Smith did for the show to the rap music of today.

But I also think the show ended in a good place. It was ironically funny that Will stayed out west while the Banks went east.

I don't know about this, but It would be great if the show ends after Will graduates from college. ending the series before Will college graduation is kind of lame!

Why is it lame? The show ran its course. Will was ready to move on. School or no school, the character grew up.

Will made a huge mistake in his life for dumping this funny entertaining show for a life commitment of making movies for the rest of his life his movies nowadays suck lol, he should have did a 7th season as the last season will gets married his wife gets pregnant the final episode could have been about the birth of his son the banks get together to see the baby.

Yeah I agree with you, Neutroman. Due to the way this show ended, I had to retire watching this show for rest of my life.

I know there are two #1 shows in their own topics, which are not as publicized as this show, had their own advantageous endings than this show. Their own female main characters graduated on time in their own series finales. Do you know which two?

But you have to realize that storyline with school is not the main priority on the show. Will felt that the show ran course and it was time to leave on top. Leaving while the show was finishing at its peak was a wise thing to do.

It was said by neutroman67 that it was a mistake to leave his show for the big screen because movies sucked...not true at all. He had movies going almost every year for a while that were box office smashes. Doing movies helped to brand him more to the public.

There could have been a seventh season but it ended where it should. I thought it was ironic that the family moved to the east while Will remained on the Westside when it was he that moved from the west in the beginning. That was clever move. He wanted to make it on his own without depending on anyone. Great way to end the show.
