Default Something seemed weird about the Davy Jones episode

I saw this episode this afternoon and when Davy Jones finally came to the house he asked Marcia to be his date and then she kisses him. Why was Marcia who was a teenage girl putting her lips on the face of a grown a$$ man?

Then Davy tells marcia..........."You can kiss me on this side too???

This was a ODD episode

Her idol had just asked her to be his date at the Prom. So she kissed him... it was just a peck...there was nothing passionate about it.

His comment "how about the flip side?" was just a silly little joke, and a reference to his being a recording star.

If HE was have kissed HER, that would have been weirder.

True and I don't think they were as strict about things like that back then. I mean back then I think sometimes you saw older guys dating younger girls.

Just like when Marcia got infatucated with the dentist, she was fantasizing about MARRYING him. Patty Duke did the same thing with her doctor.

And as the above poster said, it was just as KISS.

What about all the young teen boys who kissed and got kissed by Carol Burnett on her show?

That's true. If Davy Jones was the one who initiated the kiss, I would say he's a pervert. But Marcia was the one who kissed him and it was just a little peck.

She probably dreamed of kissing Davy Jones for a long time before she actually met him!

"The Brady Bunch" was mostly harmless, bubblegum humor. In fact, this was the ingredient Robert Reed cited as reason for countless verbal brawls with producer Sherwood Schwartz.

Also Davy Jones seemed more like a teenager himself than a grown man back then, so it didn't come off as such a big deal. Now if she'd kissed someone like Mick Jagger or Jim Morrison that would have been weird for a girl her age. But Davy Jones seemed pretty harmless.

Seems like a hug is/could be creepier he would be putting his hands on her and squeezing her. I really dont see anything wrong with a peck on the cheek.

I agree that it wasn't bad. It was just a peck that's all. And, that was the 70s and people didn't frown at that sort of thing like they do now.

It's that tired old double standard. Women can get away with physical contact with a man/ boy because hey, there are no such things as middlle aged female perverts!
