ISO: Episode Where Dennis Hides In Giant Coffee Cup - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

I was a huge fan of this show. I do not have any copies of shows from its run, but am in search of just one. It was an episode I remember watching when I was approx 6-7 years old, and for some reason one scene has always stuck in my mind, and have not seen it since, despite watching reruns for years.

The scene involved Dennis either running away from home, or leaving home temporarily to hide for a while... he went to a giant billboard or sign which featured a huge coffee cup which he climbed up to and hid in. I recall he was actually inside the cup, and as a little boy it really stuck in my mind as cool and interesting. It could have been a huge cup on top of a diner or storefront, but I think it may have been a billboard sign for a store, diner, or coffee brand.

I have searched episode lists for clues in the titles, with no success.

Can anyone shed some light on this episode, and, ideally, be able to copy episode to a dvd for me? Of course, I can reciprocate with something in trade, if need be.

I don't believe there is any Dennis The Menace episode like this one as you describe. Maybe you are thinking of the Leave It To Beaver episode "In The Soup", the famous episode where Beaver climbs the billboard sign and falls into the huge soup cup on top of the sign.

"In the Soup" was supposedly the most expensive LITB episode (over $40,000) ever filmed, because of the huge, steaming Zesto Soups cup--both inside and outside views.

"Dennis the Menace" had nothing quite that memorable...I always felt "Dennis" was more or less a throwaway show between "Lassie" and "Ed Sullivan" on Sunday night.

After a season or two, the LTB should have been renamed the Eddie and Wally show..... Both of those characters and Lumpy made the show......
