I was on the internet and I found out some intreting things about him and his life. He was up for the roll of Davy Crockett but then Disney decided to go with Fess Parker. His real name was Christian Roudloph Ebsen. He was good friends with Shirley Temple and Irene Ryan(Granny) among a bunch of others. But when Shirley was contacted for Buddy's funeral she declinded.(don't know why) After the show he kept in touch with Jethro(Max) and Elly(Donna). He tought Judy Garland to do the Jidderbug in the Wizard of Oz. There were some other things too.

He was also the original Tin Woodsman in "OZ" . But the the aluminum dust used in his make-up got in his lungs and eventually he couldn't breathe. He was in the hospital for a long tme recovering and so they replaced him with Jack Haley. They also replaced the aluminum dust with aluminum paste to prevent Mr. Haley suffering the same fate!

Yea I knew that. I'm sure he was upset but not after he got the roll of Jed. He was suppost to actually be the scare crow. But Ray Bolger didn't want to be the tin man and asked Louie B. Mayer if he could be the Scare Crow.
