Oh No Screech Popularity

I wonder why Screech never became popular and well known like Mr Urkle from Family Matters.

I think Screech did become pretty popular on "Saved By the Bell" to some extent. But he wasn't the main star of the show. Zack Morris was the cool character who became popular- but of course, so did Slater and Kelly Kapowski particularly. Just as girls were swooning over Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Mario Lopez, boys were going ga-ga over Tiffani-Amber Thiessen!
The comparison between Dustin Diamond's popularity on the show and Jaleel White as Steve Urkel on "Family Matters" doesn't quite work as well. Sure, Screech was a popular comic relief character and people enjoyed laughing at his antics. But with Steve Urkel, he became the main focus of "Family Matters" in many ways so that he was the main breakout star- and people enjoyed laughing at his antics. But while obviously there was a main cast on "Family Matters" beyond Steve Urkel- for instance, he wouldn't be nearly as memorable but for his encounters with Carl Winslow- and so the Winslow family is remembered too. But it was a different level for the SBTB kids since it was more than just Screech who was popular- a lot of the other characters (including Elizabeth Berkley's Jessie character and Lark Voorhies' Lisa character and even Dennis Haskins' Mr. Belding character) were equally as popular, if not more so.

I wonder if Dustin Diamonds life would be alot better if he was the main star on the show he seems to get offended when people ask him about his past life as being sceech, jaleel white on the other hand seems more than happy about talking about his past life to strangers of being steve urkle without getting offended.

Well that Screech character in the original class was supposed to have equally popularity with the original class. But since his popularity was incomplete and the original class is too difficult for him, it was good idea for him to return to the new class as Bayside assistant of Belding to complete his popularity and gain better respect with the new class.

But I don't understand why 1) the new class became a mess, and 2) they did not mention Screech's future in the new class series final for no reason at all?

Yeah i wish they could have made screech a popular character like zack morris that would have made people look up to his character alot more with a positive look and his life would have ended up much better then it is now.

I have a feeling that the writers and producers were too panicky putting Screech in a difficult-made original class. That was too precarious!

Yeah screech was never a well liked character unfortunately , i wonder if mario lopez would be the ladies man he is today if the producers decided to make his character a nerd instead of a wrestling jock ???

Default The original class correction

Here's the correction on the original class:

1) The Original class has to be well-entertaining, even if it is difficult or not, and all the students should be considered normalities.

2.) If the Original class succeeds, then this should be good time to create a new class and two of the students should be nerds (one boy and one girl) in it.

I won't repeat again, but putting that nerd role in that difficult-made original class is too extremely dangerous, even if it is supposed to be well-entertaining. I think Dustin should reutrn to acting and have both the original class producers and writers sued immediately!

I don't think there is any need to sue the producers and writers of "Saved By The Bell"- Dustin Diamond would have no legal basis on which to do so. He signed a contract to play a role- and he played it well. It's unfortunate that he gets typecast for that role as Screech Powers, but that's not the fault of the show. If he was worried about that, then I seriously doubt he would have come back to the series on "Saved By The Bell: The New Class" for 6 years.
What do you mean by "return to acting"? Dustin has done a number of acting jobs this year alone.

He even recently reunited with Lark Voorhies when they both performed in a movie called "Little Creeps" that was released last year.

The Screech role did no good on Dustin Diamond. Dustin appeared in the new class so his role can gain COMPLETE TEEN POPULARITY with better respect from the new students. He was supposed to be loosely entertaining in new class, but I think the writers made his character too strongly imbalanced in the last two seasons.

The only concern is that Screech did not mention his future in new class series finale at all. The new class series finale should end with the mentioned futures of all characters, including Screech.

Dustin Diamond would have never did that crappy spin-off show for kiddies saved by the bell new class but he thought that maybe he would be the star of the show kinda like how zack was on the original sitcom and gain popularity but it backfired, Dustin Diamond was desperate and he did the new class show for the next couple years for a paycheck, but now since he is almost 40 years old he regrets ever doing the show similar to gary coleman from Diff'rent Strokes, Diamond should have just been on the barney show instead of saved by the bell lol

The spin-off is also important, but not at most like the original.

The original class was too difficultly made and they should start off with all normalities.

If the original class succeeds, then this should be a good time to create a spin-off, which is the new class, to include two nerds (a boy and a girl).

I know the original class is supposed to be entertaining, unfortunately, the producers and writers included Screech in it, which is too dangerous.

I think Dustin needs to return to acting and we all side with him and gets those producers and writers sued immediately!

The New Class is the exact same version as the original SBTB version just with a diff'rent group of kids, i wish TBS would air the new class if not TBS maybe ABC Family could own the rights to air the sitcom on their channel i am sure the ratings would boost.

The ratings wouldn't boost. The New Class was unwatchable. Just horrible.

Oh, and I think Screech has proven to be much more popular than Urkel in the long run. Saved by the Bell continues to be a pop culture mainstay while Family Matters has been forgotten.
