The third season saw Alice get its sitcom service down to a science, delivering regular orders of laughter and workplace wisdom weekly while enjoying a regular slot in the top twenty. Series regulars Vic Tayback (Mel), Vera (Beth Howland), Polly Holliday (Flo), and Philip McKeon (Tommy) fit their roles perfectly, while Linda Lavin (Alice) set the comedy temp, whether it be a slow-burn simmer, smoking hot slapstick, or on-the-boil gut-busters.

Situations found in this 3-Disc, 24-Episode collection include used "Car Wars" between the girls and Mel, Vera coming down with "A Slight Case of ESP" and "Flo Finds Her Father" (played by F Troop great Forrest Tucker!). Meanwhile Tommy falls in love, Alice falls for a (younger!) theatre director and - most horrifying of all - Mel sells the diner! And keep your eyes peeled for Philip McKeon's sister Nancy (Facts of Life) playing a young orphan alongside Corey Feldman (Stand by Me).
We just got through telling you a couple of weeks ago that Alice - The Complete 3rd Season was still on the way to DVD, but taking a little bit longer than we had previously reported. Now the Warner Archive Collection has officially scheduled this title for March 19th, and have begun taking pre-orders at their WBshop.com online studio store (see button line below). The 3-disc MOD set is $29.95 SRP, and will ship only to U.S. residents at first but should also be available globally a bit later on via Amazon's CreateSpace MOD program. The show must be selling like crazy, maybe it can be 2 more releases by the end of the year and maybe completed on DVD by 2015

So nice that after waiting so many years for 'Alice' on DVD, the season sets are arriving so quickly!

Season 3 is my favorite season by far, there are just so many classic episodes. Hoping they release all 9 so we can have the entire series

ALICE season 3 episodes (1978-79)

1. Take Him, He’s Yours 9/24/1978
Alice takes Mel up on his boast that he can raise her son better than she.
In the process, Tommy breaks his leg on a motor bike, which Mel tries
desperately to cover up.

2. Car Wars 10/1/1978
Mel sells the girls a car that won't start, a white VW lemon- and now they want their money back.

3. Citizen Mel 10/8/1978
Mel identifies a holdup man, who has a record for assaulting a previous witness.

4. Vera’s Popcorn Romance 10/15/1978
Vera meets a new boyfriend at the movies, but refuses to bring him to the diner, driving her nosy coworkers absolutely crazy.

5. Block Those Kicks 10/22/1978
The diner personnel try to kick their bad habits.

6. What Happened to the Class of ’78? 10/29/1978
Flo decides to go back to school to get her diploma- with a little help from Alice, but her night life soon interferes with the night-school studies.

7. Better Never Than Late 11/5/1978
While Mel is sleeping in the storeroom, Alice (Linda Lavin) is robbed at gunpoint at the counter. Gunman: Steve Franken.

8. Mel’s in a Family Way 11/12/1978
Mel mistakes Alice's intentions when she invites him for a family dinner.

9. Who Ordered the Hot Turkey? 11/19/1978
Mel unwittingly buys stolen turkeys for a Thanksgiving dinner he is having for orphans. Guest star Nancy McKeon.

10. The Happy Hoofers 11/26/1978
Mel is unhappy because Alice's second job---delivering singing telegrams---makes her constantly late for the diner.

11. A Slight Case of ESP 12/3/1978
Despite his skepticism, Mel tries to find a way to exploit Vera's knack for foretelling the future- until she tells him about a disturbing dream she had in which Mel is murdered.

12. The Principal of the Thing 12/10/1978
Tommy wants Alice to stop dating his school principal (Gary Collins).

13. What Are You Doing New Years Eve? 12/31/1978
For the first time, Flo finds herself without a date on New Year's Eve.

14. Sweet Charity 1/14/1978
Alice's date gets two extra tickets to a celebrity ball, and everyone wants to go.

15. The Fourth Time Around 1/21/1979
Flo and Mel's brother (Polly Holliday, Carmine Caridi) decide to take a chance at marriage---even though it's the fourth time for each.

Alice is angry when Tommy (Philip McKeon) conducts his first romance on her telephone- constantly. After a big blow up, Tommy decides to run away from home.

17. Mel Grows Up 2/14/1979
Mel's pushy mother winters nearby, and Mel's not sure that he'll make it to spring. Guest stars Martha Raye.

18. Vera’s Broken Heart 2/18/1979
Vera is heartbroken after her boyfriend tells her that he's marrying someone else.

Alice's show business break has an expensive price tag---leaving Tommy.

Mel sells the diner to a humorless martinet (Hans Conried). First of two parts.

Unable to buy back his diner from the new restaurateur, Mel opens an eatery in Alice's apartment. Conclusion.

Alice and Vera vie for a role in a production being cast by an attractive young director (Fred McCarren).

Vera is asked to audition for a part in a supermarket commercial.

Flo's father tries to make amends for deserting the family when she was a child. Guest star Forrest Tucker.
