Default Season 1 Had Some Episodes Out Of Order/Place

The pilot episode was aired as the second episode of the series. The episode about Denise being on the track team was out of order/place because you could tell different scenes in this episode had different lighting etc. Then there was an episode where Maggie becomes a parent to an eggby. This aired as episode 21 but still had Loretta Devine's character Stevie in it. Wouldnt she have been gone by this time because she got married previously and Mary Alice took over as dorm director Lettie. Then there was an episode with Vernee Watson-Johnson and Ted Ross (no Jasmine Guy and Kadeem Hardison). This episode was aired as episode 22 (season finale). I think the episode called IF JUST FOR ONE NIGHT would actually be the season finale because in this episode, they are all getting ready to leave for the summer (This episode aired as episode 20).

Well said. Regarding the pilot, it was filmed as a test show. When it got picked up, of course they went ahead and did an episode introducing the new characters. Plus, some pilot scenes were reshot. The opening scene was reshot with Loretta Devine replacing Vernee Watson-Johnson. when reshot, Lisa Bonet's hair was longer and was hidden underneath a hat for shot consistency. As she goes upstairs, she removes the hat and then the scene cuts to her in the dorm room with her actual short hair (previous scene) and it stays that way. Plus Jasmine Guy(Whitley) was not in this ep originally. By the time Loretta Devine was cast, Jasmine was as well and they inserted her one scene with Denise.

The track ep was filmed at the beginning of production of the show. the lighting was Different for sure when Denise and Whitely had interaction as Whitley was doing yoga in common area. Denise's hair was less curly and the lighting was different from the rest of the episode. After this scene was over, the lighting for the rest of the ep, went back to the way it was.

The ep when Theo came to visit, Malcolm's hair in the scene of him in the Huxtable kitchen was a well cut fade and his voice was deeper. He agrees to come visit Denise. Next scene has him a Hillman. Suddenly, he is sporting a shag hairstyle and his voice is higher pitched. Whitley and Dwayne are non existent and Carla the dorm director is there.

Another would be the ep when Jalessa has issues speaking in public. Also in that ep lighting is different with scenes with Jalessa, Maggie and Denise from the lighting with scenes that feature, Whitley, Dwayne, Ron, Millie and Lettie. If you notice the grouped actors have no cross interaction. The Speech ep also had a reference to dorm director Carla but in the other scenes in the ep, Lettie is there!!! The speech scene were obviously filmed in 1987 while the scenes with Whitley, Dwayne, Lettie, Ron and Millie were done in early 1988 and then pieced together.

It was like they took incomplete/raw footage/episodes and completed them and placed them within the episode run. That Theo episode (for one night) from what I remember did not air until the summer of 1988. (It was a leftover ep) I think aired first run during that summer due to the inconsistency. (ie different dorm director. Dwayne and Whitley being non existent).

The actual season finale was when everybody was leaving for the summer and Dwayne took Denise out on the date and they kissed.

That eggby ep was another leftover episode.

Thanks for posting this topic. I love trivial stuff like this.
