Marisa Ramirez Joins "Blue Bloods" as New Partner for Danny

"Blue Bloods" has found a new temporary partner for Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). Marisa Ramirez (Against The Wall) has been cast for a five-episode arc playing Detective Maria Baez, who will be paired with Danny.

The recurring gig comes with the possibility for Ramirez to continue as a regular next season.

Ramirez’s first episode on "Blue Bloods" airs this Friday, and word of her casting started getting out as the network began to release images from the episode.

Ramirez plays the third temporary partner for Danny this season, following a four-episode stint by Megan Ketch and a three-episode one by Megan Boone. They are filling the void left by the departure of series regular Jennifer Esposito who was put on an indefinite medical leave by "Blue Bloods" producer CBS TV Studios last fall and is unlikely to return to the show.

Ramirez also recurs on ABC’s "Body of Proof" this season.

I hope they keep her. She keeps up with Danny Reagan's wisecracking persona. She reminds me a lot of Leah Remini, in the looks department.

CBS' "Blue Bloods" has found a permanent replacement for Jennifer Esposito. Following a recurring arc at the end of season three, Marisa Ramirez has been promoted to series regular, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.

Ramirez will stay on as Detective Maria Baez, the former and now full-time partner for Donnie Wahlberg's Detective Danny Reagan.

“It all still feels a bit surreal,” Ramirez tells THR.

“From the first day, everyone was so welcoming. Working with Donnie and the cast and crew of Blue Bloods can spoil a girl. Total pros, each and every one, and all so supportive. I just enjoyed every minute. Truly, I never dreamed I would be coming back as a regular. To say I am grateful is an understatement.”

"Blue Bloods" returns Fridays in the fall on CBS.

I haven't watched this show in a long time and my mom was watching it last night because she likes Tom Selleck. Marisa is hot. When I saw her, I knew I had seen her somewhere before and I realized she played on Young And The Restless soap opera. Who's the hot woman that's a lawyer and she's Tom's daughter? I've never seen her. I saw her and Donnie arguing last night.
