Including interviews with film critics, pop culture experts, comedians and Razzies founder John Wilson, TV Guide Network will count down the films that had everything going for them — big stars and big budgets — but still bombed at the box office.

I read movie reviews and I am sure I never viewed a movie flop in the past 20 years !

I've found my self enjoying quite a few flops more than some of the so called blockbusters. Most recently- John Carter and Mars Needs Moms. Also one of the more infamous flops Heaven's Gate is a good film, sadly some will judge these by their reputation and not actually watch them.

A movie making lot's of money at the box office doesn't automatically equal a good film, IMO.

Was it really Heaven's Gate that ended their 14-year-relationship with Transamerica Corporation?

BTW, TCM showed it last night, as part of their marathon of Oscar-nominated films from United Artists last night.

I think I will check that out. Sometimes, the flops are so bad that you cant help but watch them.

John Carter and Heaven's Gate were mentioned in the TV Guide special.

For John Carter they said that nobody knew who Taylor Kitsch was and that he was not ready to lead a franchise on his own. They said that Disney took the "...of Mars" off of the title and nobody cared who John Carter was.

They also spoke about the scene where John Carter fights the two huge beasts cutting through one of them and then coming out covered in blue slime. They said he tried to deliver a speech a la Braveheart failing miserably.



Regarding Heaven's Gate, they said that everyone was anticipating greatness from Michael Cimino's next film after The Deer Hunter and they got "this 3-hour western where there's no horses seen 1-hour into the picture."

They said Michael Cimino's perfectionist and controlling behavior on the set wasted a lot of time and money and led to United Artists' demise.

They also spoke about the Waltz sequence saying "it was too long and nobody wanted to see that in a Western."

Howard the Duck is probably on that list. I enjoyed the heck out of that movie when I was younger because it was stupid and fun.

Yeah, it was. They mentioned the "awkward scene" between Lea Thompson and The Duck.
