"Teen Wolf" Casting Scoop: Hunger Games Actor to Play Young Derek Hale

"Teen Wolf" returns for its highly anticipated third season on June 3 and will be delving even deeper into our Beacon Hills' favorites' pasts. First up? Derek Hale (Tyler Hoechlin)! Ian Nelson has been cast to play young Derek in the MTV hit's flashback episode (the eighth episode of the season), we've exclusively learned. But don't expect to see the same intense and broody Derek we all know and love today as Nelson plays Derek at 15 years old, when he was a popular and charming star athlete. This is Derek before disaster struck his family, turning him into a lone werewolf always in search of a new pack. In the same episode, viewers will also be meeting Derek's mother Talia, who is a strong and deadly alpha werewolf, and his older sister Laura, a beautiful beta who has the potential to become an alpha.
