Default Jeannie and Darrin as a couple and Samantha and Tony?

How do you think Darrin and Jeannie would be as a couple?

And how about Tony and Samantha?

What if Darrin had found the bottle, do you think he'd be ok with the idea of having a genie? I know he didn't like Samantha using her powers but having a genie might be a different story.

Do you think Jeannie's sister would always be trying to enslave Darrin?

Would Endore like Tony any better than Darrin? After all Tony was never trying to forbid Jeannie to use her powers, so I'm assuming he would demand that out of Samantha either, so do you think Endora would like him better since that is the main conflict between Darrin and Endora.

I'm going to take this from a different angle. I certainly believe Larry Hagman could have played Darrin, easily adapting to the double takes and camera mugging and verbal delivery needed to pull off the perpetually harried Darrin Stevens. Dick York was great in Bewitched, to pull off the role of Tony Nelson it would have been necessary for the writers to reimagine the role a bit to fit York's talent which lean slightly towards a more cerebal brand of comedy. He could have pulled it off but the show would certainly have been different.

Dick Sargent was completely overmatched in the role of Darrin Stevens, there is no way he coulld have played Tony Nelson effectively. If Sargent
picked up his game a bit he might have been able to play a passable Dr. Bellows, but it would have been a real step down from the great Hayden
Rorke.

Yes I agree, but I was really talking about the characters staying the same but being mix matched.

IMO I think Tony and Samantha would have a great marriage. Tony was more open minded than Darrin and I think he would just want Samantha to be happy being who she IS. And I think Tony's life would be less stressful since I don't think Samantha would be having the mishaps that Jeannie has all the time.

I think it would be a MUCH more mellow show with Tony and Samantha together, not much action probably to be a good comedy.

But Darrin and Jeannie, OMG that would be a disaster and it might be an even more daramtic comedy than anything we've seen. As short-fused as Darrin is and as many mishaps as Jeannie has, I think Darrin would end up in the nut house from all Jeannie's antics lol

I think at the end of the day Darrin would love Jeannie, but his blood pressure wouldbe through the roof I think

Samantha and Tony may have made a decent couple, but on the other hand, they may have been a tad too much alike in temperament.

No way would Darrin and Jeannie (especially Dick York's Darrin) have made a good couple. They would be a classic case of oil and water. There would be no way Jeannie would be willing to curb her powers the way Sam tried to do for him. It would be like being married to Endora!!

Ironically, Dick York and Barbara Eden appeared together in a 1963 episode of Rawhide.

Neat pic, I didn't know that!!

Well if Jeannie was Darrin's genie, I wonder if he would mind her using her powers? After all that would be kinda different than being married to her. Now if they fell in love and got married, I could see him wanting her to stop.

Maybe if he had wishes, it would have been a different story. Who knows?

Tony and Sam may have worked. Sam would have been free to use her powers, but then Tony would have to have dealt with Endora, and I think Tony would have lost his patience and it wouldnt have worked.

Jeannie and Darrin would have never worked because she would not have gave in to Darrin's wish about using her powers.

Do you think there would have been as much conflict between Endora and Tony though, since Tony wouldn't be trying to make Samantha stop using her powers, that seemed to be what caused the main conflict between Darrin and Endora, so I'm wondering if Endora would have liked Tony better than Darrin.

It seems like Endora just didn't like mortals who were ignorant about Witches, I dunno if she disliked all of them, she seemed to like Larry Tate ok, then again all of Samantha's relatives seemed to like Larry pretty well lol

It would be SO funny to hear Tony yelling "SAMANTHAAA!" Larry Hagman had the best scream ever!

I'm still grieving. I'd been just about to write him a letter, too. Because I knew that it would happen soon...but not that soon. Not during Thanksgiving.
