Default The personal touch and the ease getting things doen is totally GONE nowdays.

I am just reminded of this b/c I have a little cousin who wants to PRETEND like she's wearing glasses and want some clear lenses put into some old frames, so she can pretend she's wearing glasses.

I remember I did the same thing when I was little and the eyeglasses place GLADLY did that for me, but I'm just can immagine the looks I would get if someone went to have something like that done TODAY, I'd like to take it and have it done for her, but I just don't feel like hearing, "Uh we dont do that."

And I remember a LOT of stores I used to go to would actually let me walk back into their warehouse and storeage rooms to look around and find what I'm looking for, nowdays that's out of the question, its like "If you don't see it, you don't get it, now stop bothering me!"

I posted a thread similar to this in the I Dream Of Genie forum about Amanda Bellows having Jeannie's bottle replicated for herself, I REMEMBER when places actually did stuff like that, but what are chances I could take something into a place and say, "I want this replicated!" nowdays lol

I just wonder why everything has to be run like a complicated computer nowdays and they act like they cannot allow ANY little deviation or it will throw the WHOLE "system" off!

When my kids were little we tried to teach them how to save money by opening their own bank accounts. Well, our bank stopped all of that. They required like $100 or more to open an account. My 7 year old didn't have $100 so that was the end of that! I think that's too bad that they didn't want to bother with the small accounts. This was years ago. I don't know what their policy is now.

You made a good point. At times it does seem like kind quality customer service and that personal service that makes you feel like your time and money mean something the business is lacking. I think you will encounter apathy/lack of that personal touch more at the "The Big Chains/Box Stores" then at the locally owned "mom/pop" stores"

WOW that is outragious having to have 1oo bucks to open an account!!!!
I think my bank requirs a min. of 10$

But I encountered a similar thing, once I wanted to borrow some money from the bank and I thought you could borrow ANY amount, b/c I see on old TV shows where ppl would borrow 30$ sometimes.

But my bank told me their min. was $1500.00 I thought that was silly!! I FINALLY was able to get the loan officers to let me borrow $1000.00 Which I only needed about $500.00

Then once I went to a bank to borrow and THEIR min was like $3000.00!!!! Now that is INSANE!!!!!! And of course for that much you need a co-signer, things are just harder to get done now days.
