It's been a difficult month for Mindy McCready, and unfortunately, E! News has learned that the country singer's life has come to end far too soon.

A source close to the 37-year-old tells us her body was found in Heber Springs, Ark.

"Things have been hectic. But I'm still here..," the star tweeted in January.

Just a little over a month ago, McCready's boyfriend, David Wilson, died at the age of 34 with no cause of death or details surrounding his passing being revealed, however continues to be under investigation.

Shortly afterward, the star's life began going on a downward spiral.

After denying any involvement with Wilson's death, McCready's two children, Zander, 6, and Zayne, 9-months-old, were taken from the singer's Heber Springs, Ark., home by authorities. "Mindy needs to get help and we all care and love her and we want her to get the right help so she can move on. She is in a bad state right now, depressed and unhappy. It is not good," a source told E! News when the children were removed.

That was the point when McCready decided to enter an in-patient facility for treatment. "Since boyfriend (David Wilson) shot himself she has been in bed for 3 wks," her father said in court documents. "Sleeps all day. Drinks all night and is taking Rx drugs. Not bathing or even helping take care of her 2 children."

In agreeing to McCready's "involuntary admission" to an appropriate facility, the judge wrote that "there is cause to find there is clear and convincing evidence that Respondent is in imminent danger of harm to herself or others, suicidal or gravely disabled."

However, just a day after being ordered by a judge to enter a treatment facility for a mental-health and alcohol-abuse evaluation, the troubled celeb was released to undergo outpatient treatment instead.

"Being involuntarily committed and having her children taken away from her was eye-opening. It helped her realize she needs to focus on putting her family back together and moving forward from this tragedy," a source told E! News. "She is in a better state of mind."

McCready set off family-service alarm bells in November 2011 after violating a court order when she didn't bring her then 5-year-old son, Zander, back home to Florida after a visit. (The singer was allowed to visit her son, whose father is McCready's ex Billy McKnight, but her mother had custody of the child.)

She claimed she was simply protecting her child. Zander was subsequently placed in foster care in the state while the custody dispute was dealt with.

In her last interview before she died with NBC's Andrea Canning, the singer spoke about the effect Wilson's death had on her. "I have never gone through anything this painful," she said. "He didn't just touch my heart, he touched my soul. He was my soulmate."

Really sad, but I wouldn't say I am shocked. Either way she has a lot of great songs. I got her Super Hits greatest hits album playing now. I think my favorite of hers is "What if I Do". It's a shame her life was such a mess. Poor kids.

Good morning, and thank you.

You've known Mindy for fifteen years and have watched her struggle, what was your reaction to hearing what she did?

As sad as it is, it didn't come as a major shock since she's been battling demons for so long. I was with her when she attempted suicide twice so I knew that it was in her. I feel for her mother, her family and especially our son.

I can't say that this really shocked me.

A lot of people are thinking of your son and Zayne as well. Mindy was institutionalized by the court because of her grief after her boyfriend David Wilson took his own life, and your son Zander was put into foster care as a result of that decision.

What was your reaction to that?

He shouldn't have been taken from me to begin with. He was taken out of Florida and he has a happy home here. This has just been a really big mess and enough is enough. He's up there all alone and has no family in Arkansas. He has plenty of family who love him here, cousins, aunts, uncles and he needs to come home.

I don't know what's going to happen with Zayne, and if he does go to Fort Meyers where his family is from that's only an hour and a half difference and I'd like to keep those boys being brothers together.

My son's had a rough first six years and we're all better than this. My heart's broken for him, very worried.

Mindy was in the hospital for two days and then she was moved to an outpatient program, do you think she might still be alive if she was kept in the hospital for treatment?

I would like to think that. I don't know how she got out and I don't have those exact details. Mindy does have a way of talking herself out of situations that maybe she shouldn't have been so good at.

Perhaps staying in there and grieving around people that could help her over the death of her fiance could've calmed her down, but the demons that she hasn’t beaten were there, and until she was going to face them, something was going to happen. And everyone who knows her personally knew that.

She would have had to probably stay somewhere for a really long time until she completely healed and started looking into herself for getting better.

^Well, everyone reacts differently to death, and I certainly wouldn't presume to know about or understand their particular relationship, but his comments about her seem a bit...cold. He does express worry and concern about his son, but as for her, it seems there wasn't much feeling left there.

I read that the father of her older boy sued her for custody right after the father of her youngest boy shot himself. What a way to lift her spirits and make things better for her! I say that his doing that to her is what drove her over the edge and him doing such a thing doesn't surprise me because back when he and her were together, he would beat her like a rented mule. I am guessing that he got bored with physical abuse and decided to go in the direction of what may be the worst form of abuse that there is: emotional abuse.

I don't pretend to know her demons, nor am I unsympathetic to any sort of mental instability she might have had, but I must say that it appears that she did not prioritize her children above all things.

No matter what is going on, no matter if your boyfriend kills himself, you should be there for your kids. Her grief over her boyfriend was more powerful than her need to be there for her kids?

As a parent, i find it sick and sad. The innate and overpowering drive to protect your children at all costs is just a fact to me.

It's all very sad and messy and if I can completely understand her ex-husband and his reaction. Part of him is sad, but i think part of him is pissed.

She shot and killed her dog before herself. I do not even need to know her exact diagnosis to know that she was extremely mentally ill. Someone in her state would not even know what prioritizing is. She didn't have a stable thought process. I'm glad that she didn't have custody of her kids at the time, because God knows what would have happened to them. Her ex-boyfriend can be pissed all he wants, but he doesn't exactly have custody either, because, oh yeah, he beat her senseless.

I didn't know that about her ex, and i was only saying it from a reasonable stance that i could understand his reaction.
He is a pr--k if he beat her and f him for that.

And like i said, i dont pretend to understand her demons, it just baffles me about leaving her kids and seemingly placing her boyfriend above all.

Again, i don't know what she was thinking. These are just my impressions.

Wow! It is hard to understand how her desperation led to this! But suicide does happen. She was in deep trouble and it's too bad that no one foresaw this happening. It goes to show that even fame and wealth are not answers to life's problems. Hopefully her family will raise the children. Any suicide is tragic,famous or not. Very sad indeed. RIP Mindy

Her story reminds me a lot of Amy Winehouse (except Amy didn't commit suicide as far as I know).

The fact is that Mindy had a long history of mental illness and chemical dependency.

She had an affair with disgraced baseball star Roger Clemens when he was married and she was...15.
