Default Nuggets of info on the Mickey and Trudy Thompson case

saw the Murder By The Book episode on this and had a few things to share that the UM segment didn't cover.

-UM implies the stun gun was found in the driveway. MBTB says it was found in the bushes, where the gunmen were hiding out. MBTB also theororizes that the stun gun was brought to use on the Thompsons' dog in case it was brought out (it wasn't that day). Michael Goodwin's housekeeper also knew him to own a stun gun as she found it cleaning one day.

-Here's a real interesting one. There was a witness interviewed for the UM segment, who was in silhouette. MBTB had who I believe was the same witness, without the silhouette. It is also revealed that he actually shot at the gunmen, but missed.

-UM states that police were baffled as to why the gunmen were on bicycles. MBTB reveals that a witness later came forward and stated she saw the 2 men place the bikes into a white van and drive off. This was a ways from the crime scene.

-The police sketches on MBTB seemed quite different than on UM. MBTB says the men were believed to be of Jamaican or Carribean descent, or from some other island.

-Unfortunately, the Thompson's gate wasn't working that week.

-the gunmen were believed to have hid out in the bushes for some time and investigators found orange peels in the area.

-another witness said she stood at the end of her driveway and shouted at the gunmen to stop. She's very brave, I'll say that.

-Goodwin and one of the gunmen were spotted 3 days before the murders, staking out the house. A witness approached them because he thought they looked suspicious. When he approached the vehicle they were in, they drove off.

Interesting stuff wiseguy. I'll hazard a guess here but my thoughts are that some of the information UM either left out or didn't elaborate on were part of their standard dossier of information that they purposely omitted from all of their segments in order to weed out legitimate tipsters from the frauds.

As far as the witness common to both broadcasts, my guess is he came out of the shadows due to the fact that the case has now technically been solved. However, you could obviously just as easily argue that the case remains active as the two hitmen have never been identified or apprehended.

Finally given the amount of time the hitmen spent on the Thompson's property, I wonder if there is more physical evidence in this case yet to be revealed to the public such as shoeprints and the like. The orange peels are interesting but probably inconsequential unless some physical evidence could be extracted from them?

I personally think both sets of "composites" in this case are ridiculous. The first set they used in the original UM broadcast look downright scary whilst the new ones look like some type of caricature of some animated cartoon person. Great way to track down the culprits....NOT!
