CBS was well aware of the complaints online regarding the tape delay of the Grammy telecast Sunday night. Why, in the age of Twitter, does the network insist on continuing the old-school tradition of presenting the awards show on a tape delay? “The Grammys is a unique performance driven show, unlike many other awards shows that are more results oriented and prone to spoilers,” according to CBS spokesman Chris Ender. “Social media chatter about a great Grammy performance can drive even more interest in the show elsewhere in the country. It’s something we do discuss every year but the ratings have grown the past few years as social media has gotten bigger.” And so, by chiming in with our live tweets in the Mountain time zone, we’re only encouraging them. |
