Edward Andrews is one of my favorite actors but he's at his best in dramatic or villainous roles. Don DeFore was definitely the better choice for George Baxter.

I was just coming here to post that someone has generously uploaded the original pilot of Hazel on to youtube.com, but you beat me to it! I just watched it and I have to say that yes, Don Defore was the perfect choice for George Baxter. Though I do like Andrews in his other movie and TV roles, for which there were many.

I also like the house used in the regular Hazel series much better than the pilot set, however they were both organized similarly in terms of floor plans.

It was good to see the original pilot, finally! I also read that they re-cut the pilot and used parts of it in the regular series under the episode name "Dorothy's Birthday" during the first season.

Yes, Dorothy's Birthday is basically a re-working of the pilot episode. That is one reason why I've never been interested to see the pilot, but it's good someone put it up on you tube for those who are interested to see it. I hope the 5th season DVD will be out this year, and hopefully with all uncut episodes this time as the 3rd season DVD has a couple edited episodes and the 4th season DVD has an edited episode as well.

It was a great treat coming across the pilot on You Tube. But IMO, Don Defore was leaps and bounds better as George; I can't imagine Hazel without him.
