Has anyone ever seen this movie? It was stiffly acted but was a good movie. There are a few movies with the same title, but this is the one that was based on a true story, and although the story of the movie takes place in the late 1950s. the story its based on, happened in the 1960s. The movie leaves a little to the imagination, which is to say that it doesn't show blood and guts cruelty, but does show cruelty. 2 girls, who lost their parents, go to live with their Aunt (Blanch Baker) Who is very outspoken and doesn't hold anything back when it comes to saying what's on her dirty mind. She is sadistic and cruel to her 2 nieces, one whom is crippled. She seems like a kinda weirdo as she is trying to impress the boys next door by being nice to them, and I do mean the boys next door who are all teens and pre teens by letting them drink beer, all except one boy who is interested in her niece and can't understand her cruelty to her niece. If you have not seen this movie, try to go see it. If you have Netflix, you can stream it there. What I liked the most about it, is the fact that it made me use my imagination, which is what I think many movies are lacking anymore.

I'm aware of the true story and it truly was sickening.
They made a few movies on it. I've seen The Girl Next Door, but I liked Ellen Page's An American Crime (2007) way better. You should check that one out if you haven't already. Whenever someone asks about The Girl Next Door, I always assume they are talking about Elisha Cuthbert's film where she played a porn star.

I heard of the American Crime but never seen it. Thanks James I'll check it out. BTW I just finished watching this one and OMG I couldn't believe how cruel it was. I thought Flowers in the attic was cruel, this makes that one look like a G rated movie, even though it isn't.

If you like the movie, you should check out the book it's based on by Jack Ketchum.
