Pictures in Archie's and Edith's bedroom

I've always noticed in Archie and Edith's bedroom there is a picture on the wall of what appears to be a young girl with a bowl haircut, and somtimes you can see a similar picture of a little boy.

Do you think they are supposed to be Archie and Edith when they were children?

I always thought those pictures were Archie and Edith as children. There's also a picture of a heavy-set, matronly lady with white hair. I always took that to be a portrait of Archie's mother. The woman in the photo does look like she could be related to Carroll O'Connor.
