Today in Beatles History, Feb 1st 1967, in Studio 2 from 7:00pm-2:30am, The Beatles recorded Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band takes 1-9. It's certainly a thrill.

Cool! I was just a kid when it came out but my favorite song from the album was Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.

I wonder if any Beatles fans here have read Mark Lewisohn's book The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions? It is the ultimate guide to the recording sessions of the group from 1962 to 1970.
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band took six months to make, from November 1966 to April 1967. The Beatles made one hell of a dramatic transition, so incredibly fast. Three months ago, in August 1966, they did their last live shows in America (the final U.S. tour ended with Candlestick Park in San Francisco, CA). And then 3 months later, the group changed dramatically, in terms of looks, and music. They no longer were the moptop sporting young lads with matching suits. |

Paul McCartney had most of the ideas for "Sgt. Pepper". From the album to the songs. And Paul grew a mustache at the time because of a scar on his lip.
