Default "Nurse Garrett"?

I never really noticed before, but in "The Facts of Love a.k.a. Sex Education" from season 1, Mrs. Garrett tells Mr. Bradley she's a registered nurse. That seems kind of odd---why would a woman who is a registered nurse take a job as a housekeeper? But then again, as wealthy as Mr. Drummond was, maybe the pay was a few grades higher, lol.

But then a couple of seasons later when Mrs. Garrett takes on a 2nd job and eventually says she'll have to leave Eastland because it's not enough to live on, it's odd that she didn't try using her RN certification to get a job using that.

I know I know, it's easy for us re-watching all these episodes to nitpick and ask "why??", but it's just annoying to think that writers didn't keep extensive, thorough character bibles on every main character with every detail about their lives (and not FOL, many sitcoms had inconsistencies/oddities).

Wink MRS. G

MRS. G was indeed a registered nurse, but i think she loved more spending her time raising teenage girls + the fact is, she became emotionally attached to BLAIR, JO, NAT & TOOTIE (after all, she bailed them out on more than one occasion lol!)

It is interesting to speculate of Mrs. Garrett's RN title. So odd they made it a point to mention it in one episode for an argument, only never to mention it again.

Edna was a Jack of all trades it seems...To go from RN to housekeeper to school housemother to cafeteria cook to store owner and professional caterer is quite the professional leaps!

Mrs. G. probably spent all her money on those flying lessons and was just flat broke.

Oh yeah! Flying lessons! We never saw her use those!

They should have had her save the day on the plane back from Paris and land it in NY.

Mrs. Garrett was simply a registered nurse who also had a pilot's license, was a housemother, dietician, waitress, and maid who taught some classes, ran a catering business, operated two shops, and served in the peace corps. What's the problem?!

Edna being an RN is patently ridiculous given things that happened in later episodes (like taking a job at HoJo’s). But they used that as an explanation for her teaching that class and figured we wouldn’t remember it later on.

I think that's a fair assessment.

It just throws you off when she suddenly blurts, "Mr. Bradley, I'm a registered nurse"---you're like "What the---'registered nure'?? You're a housekeeper!" lol

I'd like to see her admit to the girls that she couldn't find any work as an RN because people kept telling her she was too old, then Molly would get all riled up and tell Mrs. Garrett they could fight the system! lol
