Default What is it About FootBall? I don't get it!

My brother just worships FootBall and would swallow a bottle of Wesson oil before he would miss a game. But I just never got the appeal. I have tried and tried to watch it, but it just doesn't make me feel the way it does most other people. IDK maybe I have a dead spot inside. I know I don't agree with these people who wish to ban the sport. I would never want that. I see what FootBall does for people, and how it makes them feel. Its a great way to vent too. I don't hate FootBall I would want it to stay just the way it is, but I still don't get it its appeal.

Why are you posting on a sports board? If you are not a football fan that's called trolling

To me, trolling would be threadcrapping in a pro-football thread.

This person is just expressing the fact they don't understand football. If they did this in one the sitcom forums, it would be considered inappropriate, so this is where they're making their point of view known. I don't have a problem with that.

And as someone who's never really been a sports fan, I understand what they're saying. I have watched football and just don't see the appeal of it. But a lot of people do and if that's what makes 'em happy, more power to 'em.

If someone is not a sports fan they shouldn't be posting on the sports boards.

I;m not going to go post on the MASH board and express how I hate the show

All these replies but nobody answered his question; " What is it about football that people like " For me it's the speed, the strategy, the violence, especially the violence. That's the only reasons I played the game, that's the only reasons I watch it.

What makes any sport enjoyable for me is the watching it year in and year out and following the players, knowing who's who, where they've been and what they have done. The rivalries, the discussions, the week to week stuff, new players, old players, the records, and that applies to all sports, not just football.

Following it is fun in itself. I'm a football and hockey fan but I can't get into basketball or baseball, even college football I can't really get into. The more you watch, the more you know, the more you like it.

there is a WORLD of difference between someone saying they hate something and just trashing it, and what the OP did - they were merely stating that they don't understand it or its appeal.

personally I don't get football either; to me it just seems like the most boring sport in the world (besides golf and maybe synchronized swimming). But I love hockey - I think it might be that if you have played the game or have a personal connection to it that would be something that draws people to it. I hear a lot of people that say that they grew up watching different sports with their dad or other family, and that's what creates the interest in it.

It is ok to dislike any sport. I only watch football. I could careless about hockey, baseball, and basketball to be honest with you all. Just give me football!

I would answer your question TVFactFan but the others already answered it for me. And BTW. I don't think you know the meaning of trolling so I will post it for you.

Trolling' is the anti-social act of causing of interpersonal conflict and shock-value controversy online. Named for the wicked troll creatures of children's tales, trolling is purposely sowing hatred, bigotry, racism, misogyny, or just simple bickering between others. Trolls themselves are emotionally-immature users who thrive in any environment where they are allowed to make public comments, like blog sites, news sites, discussion forums, and game chat.

I don't dislike sports, I just have no interest in them personally. I have attended a couple of Super Bowl parties (I did like the food) and I have checked in on bowl games if the New England Patriots are playing, but that's as far as it ever went.

To someone like me, it does seem at times like everybody else is into sports, but I have at least one friend who isn't interested in sports either. I have my pop culture obsessions to make me happy....and I know that some people don't share that, either.

To each his/her own. I think the OP who started this thread stated their point respectfully and I'm glad they started the thread.

Oh No

As of today, I'm done with football...the NFL is fixed, the Ravens won it all, the 49ers might as well play this...

Art Modell is laughing at Cleveland in Hell while showing-off his rings on his middle-fingers, my town CAN'T forgive nor forget, and this year's Super Bowl sucked!

Sure the groundhog didn't see his shadow, but I see 6 more years of winter where i'm at...there is NO God and if he's for us...he sure is against Cleveland Teams!
