Default The housekeeper Adalaide was a lot funnier than Mrs Garrett

She was so damm entertaining and stole every scene she was in along with be so flexible for her age-lol

Not to take anything away from Mrs. Garrett who was funny in her own way but she could not compete with Adalaide when it came to entertainment. Damm shame she didn't stay on the rest of the series

I like her too.

One season four episode had me laughing so hard when Willis wanted his own room so he said he was going to take Adalaide's room and have her move in w/ Arnold.

Arnold goes, "I don't want Adalaide in here, she can see me in my underwear. Even worse, I'll see her in hers."

I remember that.

Adalaide was a real scene steeler. I would have liked her to stay too. I liked how she did come back with Mrs. G. when Drummond got married.

Oh yeah she sure did,

I;m sure Larry Alder would have been at the wedding if Hello larry was still on the air in 1984

I was going to make the same exact reply! Pearl was a total bore. Adelaide was cute and funny! I liked her a lot. I felt so bad for her when she climbed up that stairwell when the Drummond penthouse was on fire.

The poor little thing was so out of breath as she was staggering up those stairs.

I always thought she was the cutest, little old lady I ever seen. And she was always so much fun to be around. She was always cracking jokes, and she was actually FUNNY! Pearl was NEVER funny.

Yes, I remember feeling so bad for her. I was scared for her as she was struggling and panting while climbing those stairs with the bag of groceries. But she was a feisty little thing. Nothing was going to keep her from getting up to the Drummond penthouse.

That lady was great. She was also on an episode of All in the Family when she plays one of Edith's relatives.

They just aired it on Antenna TV a few weeks ago. It was the final episode of the show (she played Maude's maid when she moved to Washington after becoming a Congressman). Here's the links on YouTube:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQl4_dnk974 (part 1)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OL1HjHWONsI (part 2)

And Adelaide was my favorite of the maids, too, with Mrs. Garrett second and Pearl, by default, last (nothing against her, though).
