How do I fix it, is there an free software that will fix it

there are a million different reasons that IE could be crashing - start by cleaning out all your temp files and cache, try resetting IE and install the newest version, and make sure you update and run your anti-malware and antivirus programs.

- or switch to a different browser, the one I use is Palemoon.

I gave up on IE years ago! I used Google Chrome for a while but I prefer Firefox.
