Angry Banks

Why do banks treat your money like it was their money ?
I go thru the drive-thru to make a deposit and they are all smiles with their " How do you do's " and the transaction is over in two minutes. I go to make a withdrawal I get the Evil eye and a 15 minute wait. My engine starts to overheat when they ask me, " How would you like this money? " I am tempted to holler, " Nowwwwww..." Sometimes I forget it is my money.

Have you thought about using an ATM? Half the time and half the attitude. If your banks have an ATM on premises you aren't charged any fees.

That sounds like an excellent idea. 99.99% I only use a Teller window to make a deposit. my bank has many branches and the ATMs are a Godsend.

I don't trust ATMs. I don't trust banks either. I don't trust anybody.

At my new job, my 1st paycheck was only $49 because it was just orientation and one day of work. So since I am working on getting my bank account established again, and don't have one now, I took it to BankAmerica because that's where the account for my job was. At least that's what I thought because it said it right on the check. The teller told me it was going to be a $6 fee to cash it because it was a business check or something like that. I said "but it says your name on it". Usually when an bank's name is on it, they will cash it for free. A $6 fee though? Seriously?? Especially for a $49 check?? I told him to give me the check back, and I just went over to the grocery store behind the bank. They will cash payroll checks and they only charged me a dollar. Most banks are such a ripoff anymore.

That is horrible, phoebe7165. It's the antithesis of customer service. Bank of America is horrible! My company had one of their accounts there for years and yours truly had to be the one to deal with them. I finally got the account shifted to another bank a month ago and now BoA is calling me incessantly wanting my business back. Seriously? They should have been kissing my butt earlier in the game.

I have been hearing bad reviews about Bank of America but I have been with Bank of America for 7 years and I have no single problem, I guess I got lucky

I use ATM's, a nice invention from the last 25 years. As for using banks, I have my pay direct deposited, use on line banking ( few checks I do used, , I do use the checks in person. I do like to keep a record for big amounts, and POS/ATM for gas, groceries and over and over purchases. As for the teller she see me when I need change. Those ATM's don't give out 5's or 1's yet.

Banks want you to pay to spend your own money. $27.49 to order a box of checks

IN the early years, you had to buy theirs. Now there are far cheaper companies that are much cheaper. With the online banking these less expensive companies are struggling to sell you the checks. Banks will charge you 3 times the amount.

yeah a friend of mine said I can purchase them online from another company which didn't make sense to me.

I thought any check I wrote had to have the name of my bank

No, I don't keep my money in a mattress because the bedbugs might chew it up. I don't have any shoeboxes, my shoes came from the bowling alley. I might get a safe for my basement and keep my dollar in there.

I LOVE direct deposit! Best thing ever made, no reason to go to the bank. I bet it's been 9 months since the last time I had to go.

I have direct deposit but I still kind of miss going to the bank every 2 weeks. I think this digital age is turning me into a hermit.
