Solomon, I'm the same as you. I must, absolutely must have the tv on. It was an issue for Lou and I for decades. He doesn't like the tv on. This drove us into separate bedrooms at one point. He'd sleep in the guest room when he really needed a good night sleep. It became a habit, but all is good as he's back in the big bed, and I mean BIG bed.
We put two Queen size beds together; then I got Lou this black satin mask thing that wraps around his head and stays on with velcro. It acts as a blindfold and ear muffs, so he doesn't hear or see anything. Problem solved. I think my very last act in life will be channel searching. ![]() . |

If I fall asleep with the television on, I sometimes incorporate whatever show is on into my dreams. Once I fell asleep while 'Your World With Neil Cavuto" was on, and I had a dream that Neil stopped by for dinner. Weird. I prefer to sleep with the TV off, but I rarely happen to doze off while it's on.

I'm with Family Ties Forever. Unless I'm completely exhausted then I can't sleep with the TV on. Lately I've been using ear plugs for complete silence lol. I used them at my boyfriends house and I grew to love them.

That cracked me up. I think it was the casual way you stated it. I've had tv and movies creep into my dreams as well.

I can't sleep with the television on, as I need complete and total silence and darkness before I can fall asleep.

If it was up to me I would probably turn it off before falling asleep but my wife (of 10 years) likes to fall asleep with it on. Not surprisingly She wins that battle.

A tv running would be too distracting for me. I sleep with a fan running. Even in the winter. I turn it away from me. It drowns out any outside noise. Only one drawback. I would never hear if anyone was breaking into the house. Another thing is that I haven't heard the summer crickets chirping for years! I love to hear that on summer nights. But I still can hear thunderstorms, which I like to hear in the night.

This is weird but whenever I stay in a hotel, I tend to leave the TV on all night when I sleep, I guess to drown out any other noise that goes on outside. At home, like I said I fall asleep on the couch, then about 2 or 3 in the morning, I wake up, turn the TV off and go to bed. |

I also have the radio on (very low volume), also on a timer. I don't like a quiet room. I think one reason is because it was very quiet just before the 1994 Northridge earthquake. |

I can't fall asleep with noise in the background and I have to have the room dark. One reason why we do not have a TV in the bedroom.
