Default do you think any UM cases could have been an inspiration for certain movies?

I'm sure there's many more but here's one that sticks out in my mind. The Liz Carmichael segment sounds a lot like Lois Einhorn aka Ray Finkle (from Ace Ventura)

I'm almost positive that the Bonnie Wilder case inspired the makers of the new comedy "Identity Thief."

It's been discussed on this board extensively, but the first 15 minutes of Jeepers Creepers is taken directly from the Dennis DePue segment.

Well, the section of the Dennis Depue segment where the couple is driving and sees him disposing of the bloody sheet clearly inspired the opening act of "Jeepers Creepers". There's actually a video on the forbidden site which does a side-by-side comparison of them, as many of the shots are identical.

It's quite random since the two stories have otherwise nothing in common.

I read somewhere that the movie A River Wild starring Merryl Streep and Kevin Bacon was inspired by the UM segment about a woman named Teresa who gets raped in a boat by two unknown men in front of her young son....not sure though. Speaking of that segment, LE believe Teresa made the whole thing up now, AND, it's one of the few segments I have never seen and can't find it anywhere! Apparently it's disturbing.

I've wondered if the character Penelope Garcia on the show Criminal Minds was inspired by Kevin Poulsen. I starting to think about this after it is revealed that Garcia was a master hacker and rather than charge her the FBI recruitted her.

Yeah, that's my vid. I uploaded it under the title of 'UM' instead of 'Unsolved Mysteries,' which will hopefully keep the video up and not be taken off for copyright.

I uploaded a version in 2007, which lasted about 3 years before it was pulled... along with all my other Unsolved Mysteries related videos.

WHAT??? I had no idea! Was there a discussion about this on the board that I missed? Where did you find this info? It's definitely one of the most disturbing cases UM has ever shown.

I actually posted something about this a couple of years ago. It was one of my first posts and I was quite proud of myself for finding dirt on this case LOL. Here is a link to the thread and the site I found about this Teresa woman. The thread was actually about "most disturbing segments", there is only about 4 or 5 posts about Teresa.

Some of the Lifetime movies are based on actual crimes or cases. I'm drawing a blank on most of the titles but Judgment Day: To Save Their Souls was based on the John List murders even though I don't believe that case made it to UM

The Amy Bradley case. I would call it "Nightmare at the sea". Or "Cruise to Hell".
