Damm Denise couldn't choose where she wanted to go? His dumb a$$ was like.............."What can I tell you about Hillman that you don't already know?"

Damm the girl had to attend Hillman because her parents went there? LOL

I think it's normal since Cliff and Claire both went to Hillman for them to want their daughter to continue the legacy.

I think that is normal for a family that has a legacy or loyalty to a University.

But I didn't understand the pressure since Sondra was able to go to Princeton and obviously broke the streak lol

Since Sondra didn't go to Hillman that is exactly why there was even more pressure on Denise to go there. The Huxtables wanted to make sure at least one of their kids continued the family tradition of going to Hillman. and at that time it looked unlikely the Theo would even make it college. And Vanessa and Rudy were to young to be able to tell if they would be college material. So Denise looked like the best chance to get one of their kids into Hillman.

Will we really don't know about Theo or Vanessa because there was no episode that took place about Theo deciding where he wanted to attend college. Same way with Vanessa, They may have pressured one or both of them for that matter into going to Hillman for all we know.

Sondra being the oldest was probably pressured a little bit into going to Hillman but she may have decided to go to Princeton (Or somewhere beside Hillman) In a way to kind of rebel against her parents because they wanted her to go there. They wanted a least one of their kids to go to Hillman. Since they loss out with with Sondra they moved onto Denise, There is a difference in pressuring someone until they feel like they have too in roe to make you happy vs encouraging them or suggesting Hillman to continue the Family tradition which there is nothing wrong with. Cliff and Claire weren't as bad as Grandpa Huxtable, Cliff and Claire admitted that Princeton (Among other Denise mentioned) were Good schools and while they did pressure Denise they did not force her into it but Grandpa Huxtable on the other hand would not give up or let it go! He pretty much trashed Princeton just because Sondra decided to go there and not Hillman. I think Denise probably felt like she had to go there in order not to disappoint her Parents but not too disappoint her Grandfather. But then look what happened... she Drop out! When Theo came along they may have decided to back off a bit and let Theo make his own decision after Sondra choose Princeton and Denise drop out.I could see Claire not allowing Vanessa to go to Hellman because wasn't she caught partying just the Year before when she visited Hillman?

Also Theo had Dyslexia (Or was it known at that time?) so it could have been derided that NYU was a better choice for him. A more local School, with the grades he got in high school he would not have been able to attend Hillman.

Question

I got the idea that Grandma and Grandpa Huxtable AND Claire's parents AND Cliff and Claire went to Hillman College, so it became the "family" school, and all the Huxtable kids had to be invited to go there . The rule seemed to be "You can go to the college you want to attend, but we get to give you the sales pitch for Hillman College !" .

I thought Sondra had to go through the same thing Denise went through when she was a senior in high school, only we didn't get to see it . Denise had to listen to the "sales pitch", she wanted to go to Hillman all along, and that was the backdrop for A Different World . Didn't Claire's mother campaign for Hillman, but tell Denise "You make sure you go to the school you want to go to !" ?

Was it really out of the question for Theo to attend Hillman ? I know colleges and universities want to look at an applicant's grades, but my university had to give me a trial basis because I was a resident of the state where it's located . Theo might have qualified for something like that .

Didn't Vanessa attend Hillman ? Wasn't Hillman where Drabnis Brickey worked ? I remember somebody got Drabnis confused with his much -- older brother, and that person was a beloved friend of Grandma and Grandpa Huxtable, so they heard that Vanessa was dating somebody who was much older than she was . When I'm dealing with half -- gone memories, I reaize it's time to buy and watch the DVDs .

I guess if Sondra had been there from the very beginning she most likely would have gone to Hillman.
