Executive Producer, Norman Paul said that Carl Dixon would be hospitalized permanetly
when season 6 started in a 1978 Newspaper article about the return of Florida. So it definitely looks like his hospital stay was removed from syndication and didn't need to be mentioned at all which makes sense
