Default Ever notice how thing back in this era were so readily available?

I know we live in an age where supposedly EVERYTHING is at our fingertips, but have you noticed in MANY WAYS things were much more accesable back then than they are today?

I'm reminded of the episode where Amanda Bellows took Jeannie's bottle to have a replica made for herself, and also other things that were done on the show, and other shows back then.

Can you immagine a place NOW DAYS where you could take a bottle or ANYTHING like that in and request to have it replicated?! They'd look at you like you're crazy!!

Or walking into to a costume shop and saying "I want to such and such costume." And having it that night.

Or walking into a store and wanting something they don't have them saying, "Well we don't currantly have that in the store right now, BUT we can easily backorder it for ya!"

Now days if they don't have something in a store, they are like, "Uh if you don't see it we ain't got!" And they act annoyed like you're bothering them if you even ASK.

OR if you wanted a certain wig sometimes they will say, "Where's the nearest wig shop?" Then boom in 5 minutes they have a wig.

If you asked for a wig shop nows days ppl would be like, "Duh, what's that?"

Maybe it's just my small town but I dunno I remember even back in the 80 and 90s HERE I saw things like this that were like on these old shows, but now there is NOTHING.

It just seems like back then ANYTHING you wanted, there was a shop for it and you had it within 5 minutes.

Definetly a lot more waiting now. And you got to drive to get anywhere.

We had a wig shop at our mall that closed maybe 2 or 3 years ago and it was there at least twenty years. I couldn't believe it lasted as long as it did.

Yeah and I don't get that either, We had one here in town that closed prolly 5 or 6 years ago. I order them online now, but I can't believe there aren't MORE walk-in places.

Me and my friend joke that someday EVERYTHING will go out of existence except 1 giant cell phone that everone will be plugged into, ppl won't even have houses anymore lol

But it makes me mad that things are so hard to find now, I HATE shopping nowdays, I went to Walmart to buy just a WALL SHELF and they didn't have it!!! Then I go to Lows and they HAD it, but acted like they didn't know what I was talking about, and were like, "Wall shelf?" I'm like GGRRRR Its not ROCKET SCEINCE!!!!

Just a thought that reminded me of this thread.

I've always loved the Witch's hourglass on the Wizard of Oz.

I wonder if there would be ANY remote chance of having someone replicate it for me in this day and age.

Funny but back in times past like the 60 or 70s I could see that EASILY being done and having no trouble finding a glassmaker or craftsman to do it for me for the right price.

No computers back then. Sometimes technology just gets in the way.

And you'd think that would make things EASIER, you'd think I could hop on the computer, and google "someone to replicate Witch's hourglass for me" and I'd have plenty of matches.
