Default Jim Nabors, gay?

Nobody ever asked it seemed, but is Jim Nabors gay?

If Jim Nabors is gay, no one has ever "outed" him. Personally, I think this has never happened simply because he is honestly a very nice, congenial man who made absolutely no enemies with people in the industry. There were lots of closeted people back in the day, Richard Deacon and Paul Lynde for example. But then, there was the stupid Rock Hudson joke. My mother (who is the same age as Nabors) claimed that she knew Rock was gay back in the 1950's.

Have to admit, setting up Gomer Pyle with Lou Ann Poovie was sort of unrealistic....

Nabors' career on television was "family fare", with a lot of child fans (including myself). I also think that homosexuality was seen much more back then as something bad, perverted and evil, not something a wholesome person like Jim Nabors would be. People were so in the dark back then, that there was discussion if even freaking Liberace was gay, or even in the 1980's...Boy George. Nabors wasn't flamboyant, just a grinning country boy with talent.

When Nabors dies, do you think it will come out that he was gay? He has been out of the spotlight for a long time and when he dies will probably be mostly a footnote to most. But the LGBT minions wants to "out" everyone and have no respect for someone's privacy.

This is kinda been common knowledge since the 70s. He and Rock Hudson were lovers.

Nabors and Hudson were never lovers. That was urban legend. They were friends at one point, but never more than that.

The Nabors/Hudson rumors were a joke started at a cocktail party, just like the "J. Edgar Hoover wore women's clothing" rumor. No truth to either.

What really surprised me was when I found out that Roy Stuart (Sgt. Boyle) was gay. NEVER saw that one coming. And (on a totally unrelated note) why was the Boyle character eliminated?

Thanks for bringing up Hoover. I never believed about him cross dressing. I believe it is more likely that he was a closeted homosexual like Nabors. That back at the time was extremely taboo and if it was true it was kept a secret.Robert Reed is a good example.

Lol I was gay when I watched these shows. (Gay meaning happy, of course)

I never knew it till recent years. It seems that's the way it is with all stars of that time. As a kid and even a young adult, it was never even a thought in my mind that Paul Lynde or Charles Nelson Reilly or certainly Nabors, R. Reed and the rest were homo. It was just not a thought that occurred to me. I just thought that's just Paul Lynde's personality, etc. with the rest. Maybe it's the in thing now for the past 20 years to be gay so stories are written about many who may not have been gay at all. But it's good for the gay lobby to label everyone gay to make it seem more acceptable. But no matter, I still appreciate Lynde, think he's still funny and still like Gomer and all the rest. What they did (or didn't do) in their private lives shouldn't matter to how much we enjoy the work they left behind.

When I was young the thought that Nabors was gay never entered my mind.I just thought his character was just a simple, naive country rube.I just thought he was a funny guy and enjoyed the show.It in no way takes away my enjoyment of the show. That goes for Reed,Lynde and the rest.
What I do not like nowadays is the way the gay lobby demonizes and degrades ANYONE who disagrees with the homosexual lifestyle. They preach tolerance but THEY are intolerant to anyone that disagrees with them.Very hypocriyical if you ask me. Of course they have an ally in the White House and have learned well from a man who is nothing more than a racial, religious, etc. divider and Agitator in Chief.......

I was listening to an interviewer on YouTube that went to school with Obama in high school. Obama used cocaine then. Really cocaine was expensive and this is before crack. She said Obama used older gay men to get him cocaine. Somehow this is never brought up but how then could you go telling people to put themselves.
