Default Perhaps Endora was Good for Darin

How do I figure? He was always trying to demand that poor Samantha not use her witchcraft spells. So maybe it was good to have Endora around to "put him in his place!"
Just a thought!

They both represented extreme opposite sides of the issue. Reality was somewhere in between, which Samantha already knew. Darrin, interestingly enough, was most adamant against using witchcraft when Endora was around. Darrin and Endora seemed to like to fight each other.

In the end, Darin never learned not to upset Endora.

Nope, he never learned!! He had himself to blame for a lot of his misery where Endora was concerned.

I see both sides to it, I USUALLY sided with Endora, just b/c I thought Darrin was unreasonable. He wanted Samantha to give up what was natural to her and give up a part of HERSELF, so I see why Endora resented that. And plus IMO it was usually Darrin who started the conflict, I always thought if he halfway TRIED to be nice to her she would have treated him decent, but usually when he came downstairs and she was there, he would always make the FIRST sarcastic remark.

Now in Darrin's favor, I'm sorta glad he "never learned not to upset Endora", after all you can't let ppl push you around, so inspite of the fact she had powers, it's nice he STILL stood up for what he believed in and didn't just submit to her.

I think the NOBLE thing to do is to stand up for what you believe in even if it's against someone who is all powerful, it's easier said than done, but it's admirable. Rathen than just submitting to them b/c they can fu** you up.

I think Endora had a lot of patience with Darrin, considering her vast powers. She even protected him from a Maurice once if I recall. Darrin could be pig- headed and dense. Endora was chic and glamorous - with a delicious wit. And Sam of course was a gem. IMO Darrin married up and sometimes really needed to get over himself. I agree with Monika; many times Darrin escalated a conflict with Endora, and got his just desserts.

Well I think deep DEEP down Endora probably was fond of Darrin and Darrin probably liked Endora deep down as well.

I did like those few episodes where Darrin and Endora were on the same team against a commun enemy. I seem to remember it happened a few times.

Yes, wasn't there an episode where they went back in time to save Sam?

I know Darrin went back in time to get Sam back (who had no memory of Darrin) in Season 5's "Samantha Goes South For a Spell"). The episode also featured Serena. Endora was not in that episode.

My take was they resigned themselves to the fact that Sam loved both of them dearly; nursing a vmutusl dislike would just alienate Sam. One thing I admired about Endora was that her bark was frequently worse than her bite. I remember that episode where she lost her powers and how obnoxious Darrin was. When she got her powers back, she didn't do anything to Darrin. She just recognized him for the jerk he was. Compare her to Maurice and she comes out a pussycat, using her vast powers with restraint.

I thought there was an episode where Endora and Darrin were sorta helping eachother against Maurice for SOME reason. Maurice was VERY powerful and even Endora showed some fear of him in cases I think.

But honestly I think if Endora saw Darrin in danger she would help him, she would prolly be like, "Oh I can't believe I'm doing this!" but I think she would help him.

Endora did warn Samantha that the the Crone of Candor had her sights on Darrin and if The Crone kissed Darrin they will trade agess (I forget how old that the Crone was) The Crone was for a short time in the body of an atractive woman. Endora could have let Crone take her best against the Crone and hope for the worst for Darrin but she did do Darrin a small favor.
