Four years before he worked with his little buddy, Alan Hale played a one-armed wrench wrangler and pit crew chief named Buddy!
This was in THUNDER IN CAROLINA, a classic 1960 stock car movie later released on video as HARD DRIVIN'.
It's a hoot.
Rory Calhoun plays a beefy driver coming back from a fiery crash that left him with a career-ending ankle injury. (ankle injury?!)
This was also Connie Hines' movie debut and the only film she ever made.
But you may remember her as Wilbur's wife in Mr. Ed.
It was shot on dirt tracks in South Carolina leading up to the NASCAR's Darlington 500 where you see actual footage of 50's Chevies doing their stuff.
I won't spoil the surprise ending.

Love Him. LUV HIM in this film. He is such a great flirt with the ladies. He really should have been given a few more romantic roles. he was extremely handsome. he is a great flirt in the Biff Baker series.
