Hey guys,
Just looked down at my phone and saw it was 7:57. I felt a slight jolt of excitement, as if something great were happening at 8:00. Nothing is planned, however. Then I reflected for a moment, and remembered that that 7:57 feeling was from my grade school and teen years, M-F nights. NBC. Lifetime. You ever get excited for a sec right before 8:00?

I didn't watch Unsolved Mysteries full-time until they reached their last original season in 2001. I remember watching the new episodes late at night, 8 to 9 I believe. Good times. I haven't seen some of those 2001-2002 episodes since then because they are very hard to come across these days.

I most clearly remember the mid-90s seasons, right before it moved from NBC to CBS, and then the CBS and Lifetime years. I picked up watching reruns on Lifetime in the fall of 2004 during my freshman year of college in the afternoons between classes.
I do recall those extremely memorable nights I did tune in to NBC at 8, however. ALL of those segments are actually what got me watching in college--I wanted to catch all those stories that terrified me as a child again! |

Yep, I still remember that 7:57 feeling while I was a child during the late eighties: I'd be asking myself if I really wanted to tune in tonight and risk giving myself nightmares again.
But of course, I always did .

Wednesday nights in the late 80's/early 90's. Good times. I was always ready to go at 8:00.
By the end of UM, I'd be so scared, I had to turn over to Doogie Howser to try and get my mind off it. |

I remember in the late 90's (before the revamped 2001-2002 season) Lifetime would show UM at 8 every night, M-F. My grandmother and I would watch it religiously.

I loved UM from the time I was a kid - I remember watching at 8 and going to bed immediately thereafter with the creepy theme music in my head - to this day, that coupled with Robert Stack's voice still has the power to send shivers up my spine.

It was every Wednesday night at 8 on NBC for me.
I'd really get the feeling when the disclaimer came on...'This program is about Unsolved Mysteries...' Nowadays I still sometimes watch at 8, even if it's on DVD to get that nostalgia feeling. |
