Default Anyone else hate the Charles Minor storyline?

I own seven seasons of The Office and have seen every episode, with most of the episodes from the seasons I own multiple times.

The only part of the series I cannot watch is the several episodes, I believe in the sixth season when they introduced the character of Charles Minor, who was a VP sent in to more or less clean house at the Scranton Branch. When I watch my DVD's I know when this episode is coming up from the 15th Anniversary party Michael didn't get "Oh sh*t, says I, next disc!"

I really disliked these episodes. Minor was really a hardass, Michael Scott goes nuts and quits the company to painfully start his own paper company in a bathroom on the first floor with Pam also quitting, with Ryan onboard (for some reason, like I said, I really hated these episodes). Michael was just painful to watch, the whole episodes were painful to watch. At least this introduced Erin.

Did anyone else really dislike these episodes?

I hate the fact that he didn't let Michael have a party for his 15th anniversay.

If stupid David Wallace just would have taken Michael's call, Michael never would have quitted. Michael should have been allowed to have his party. Charles Minor really was a hardass and he was also a phony and a major suck up when he was dealing with David Wallace.

The Charles Minor episodes were a nice change of pace but I'm glad this story line was short lived. I didn't care for Charles too much because he was so down on Jim, who I liked and thought was really cool. Also Charles was a real d*ck to Jim at the company picnic in ep #100.

I actually really like this story arch. That's not to say I like Charles Minor, though. There are some awkward scenes (which this show has prided itself on) but overall a great plot. This was a very important arch as it introduced Erin as the new receptionist, brought Pam to sales and saw the return of Ryan. Plus we got to see Michael being very competent in the negotiation scene.

I can understand someone not liking it but like I said, I enjoy it.

I never did like the Charles Minor story arc of Season 5- like most of you already mentioned, Charles is awful. Granted, I don't think we're supposed to like him, but still, if that is the intent, then the writers did a great job, because I can't stand him! However, I really enjoy the whole Michael Scott Paper Company thing. I thought those were some of the best episodes of the season, especially the one where Michael, Pam, and Ryan are trying to adjust to their new "office" in the old bathroom.
