Default Did you wear glasses as a child?

If so, when did you start wearing them?

I started wearing them in 5th grade.

I started wearing glasses in kindergarten. My 14 year old started wearing them at age 3. We have bad eyes around here.

I got my first pair in 9th grade, but was made fun of the first day I wore them. After that, I refused to wear them through 9th, 10th, and 11th grade. In my senior year of high school I got a pair that was a bit more stylish, so I didn't mind wearing them as much.

Cool

I got glasses in grade three but generally refused to wear them. Now I wear glasses for reading.

I didn't have glasses until I was about 17 years old.

Wore them for 6-7 years then stopped wearing them because I realized they were not necessary. I was nearsighted, but only a little.

I wear them more often now because I am more nearsighted than I used to be.

I got my first pair of glasses after flunking the eye exam at the DMV. I have been wearing contact lenses for years. Wearing eyeglasses give me a headache.

My mom,who grew up in the 30's, developed poor eyesight after having the measles. I think that she was probably around 5 years old. My sister in law has been wearing coke bottle glasses all of her life. I never understood why she never tried contacts. Her glasses are so thick that when you look into her eyes they are magnified like a 100 times!Really large!Gilligan Fanatic,(sorry I'm not sure what your name is!) have you ever tried contacts? I love mine but my eyes were never really that bad. I know a lot of people have astigmatism(sp?) and that can be a deterrent to contacts because the lenses will float around.

I tried contacts when I was in the eigth grade and I really didn't like them.

I've been wanting to get lasik for years but they want me to wait until I'm 25 because they want my prescription to stabalize, which it more or less has. I'm 24 now so I only have another year to wait. They said I would still need glasses even if I got lasik but my prescription wouldn't be as strong. My right eye is the bad one, but my left eye isn't to good either.

Started wearing glasses in freshman year of high school...didn't do well on the physical that was required for high school.

I got contacts when I was 19 and wore them, off and on, for about a decade, until I finally just decided they were WAY too much trouble, and didn't make my eyes feel very good. I lost some, I got tired of the cleaning hassle and expense, and ultimately, I don't think I look that badly without them (and even if I DID, that really didn't warrant the hassle). Different strokes for different folks.

My eyes are pretty bad...my mom had glaucoma and detached retinas as well as cataracts and I've inherited her eyes. (I've also inherited some great stuff from her!) Needless to say, my eye doctor is a very important part of my life.
