Default Season 4 Opening Intro

I think the opening used for Season 4, is completely non-sensical.

1) What are the chances of Hazel, George, and Dorothy, ALL 3, missing their keys to the car.

2) Why would Harold have one of the set of keys in his toy pedal car?

3) Why does he get a pat on the back for retrieving the keys to open the car? What was he doing with them in the first place? And why does he leave his toy car out in the front yard?

4) Why would twelve-year-old Harold (Bobby Buntrock's age at the time) be playing with a toy pedal car, in the first place? Would he even fit in it?

5) It looks like the whole family (including Hazel) are about to leave in the car. Wouldn't Harold want to put his pedal car in the garage so it doesn't get stolden?

They should have used the "toll-gate" opening, which was used in the first episode (of season 4) for the whole season. It made a whole lot more sense.

Markway, all your points are good. However, we're dealing in the world of fantasy here, television. Besides, what fun it is to have so many different openings to one show. I love them all!

Also, back in 1964 and in their neighborhood, I don't think the chances are too great of his pedal car, bicycle, or anything else being stolen.

Yes, I like the many different Hazel openings, too. I just thought this opening was a little ridiculous, but it is fantasy from the 1960's! Probably my least favorite, though.

Oh No S4 opening was different for all the wrong reasons

The '64-'65 (S4) opening of "Hazel" was different than the others, and I suspect Ford wanted something different. For one thing, it's the first opening sequence since 1962 that did not feature a convertible in the majority of episodes. Ford had just introduced the Galaxie 500 LTD for '65, and it came only as a two- or a four-door hardtop. The car itself is a light metallic blue, not the Rangoon Red they had used in previous episodes. The top is dark blue vinyl (another new luxury touch).

It seemed that all four characters were going through the motions and, exeot for Harold, looked anything but happy. Hazel looks perplexed. George looks puzzled. Dorothy looked like she'd rather have been anywhere else than digging into her clutch. Only Harold (whom I agree was too big for the battery-powered red Thunderbird Jr. from which he extracts Dad's car keys) has a demonic grin on his face.

And the music sounds like vintage Screen Gems sitcom music (of course, the Cahn-Van Heusen music was long gone--too many royalty payments?). I think that's one reason the ratings fell as sharply as they did in S4. Too many changes for the sake of change...

Including the ugly changes to the decoration of the living room. The new carpet and sofa are ugly........

The new kitchen is very nice, though.

I like the S4 intro including the music. The new LTD looks very nice and something like a man of Mr. B's stature would drive.

The LTD replaced the Galaxie 500/XL as Ford's top full-size car for 1965 ("the 1965 Ford LTD rides quieter than a new Rolls-Royce" according to the TV commercials) and indeed Mr. B looked a bit more richer and elegant driving the LTD than the sporty convertible! Assuming of course he found the keys!

And as for the redecoration: Could Dorothy have boned the fish?
