Question this is a good website but...

Last night I was going through the different posts and such. A lot of fun stuff here but after reading some of them , it made me wonder, where do people get their information? My husband looked at them and said this website has way too much National Enquier style gossip.

Case in point...it was said in the Bewitched section that both Agnes Moorhead and Dick Sargent were "gay". Sargent I believe because he has said it many times before he died but Moorehead?
How do people know this? Did she ever come out? I'm 48 years old and I grew up watching Bewitched and I have never heard about that til I saw it here.

The friendship between Lucy & Vivian Vance, much was said about how they ( and Fred & Ethel ) didnt get along. Were you on the set? They all could've been best friends.

Comments about the murder of Bob Crane ( which by the way a movie about this is currently being made starring Greg Kinnear as Crane), Tony Dow having cancer, the troubles with the kids on the Brady Bunch, Robert Reed's private live, Jay North's mental problems, Adam Rich, ect... again how do people know these things are true for sure?

Books? Well how do you know the author of them doesnt have a grudge against the star in question? Years ago I bought a book by Sam Frank about TV , the man hated Lucy. Hated The Jeffersons, the man hated Mamas Family, Hated Adam-12 and guess what? All the stars on those shows were slammed. And I get the same feeling with many other authors.

I have a large collection of trivia/tv books ( my husband works for Borders which helps ) but quite a few times the things I read in them ,so much stuff in them are either halfway false or totally false and/or the information is incorrect. There ARE good books out there about TV but for the most part one has to take what they read with a grain of salt.

And have you noticed than whenever a star dies , many of these books and magazines get down and dirty with such trash? Michael Landon was a fine actor, never forget when he died within weeks across the Star "...Michael Landon is a wife beater".
Same thing with Robert Reed and his "private life". Its terrible that many of these magazines have to publish such garbage about someone after they died. And when it comes to the sexual lifestyle of one or AIDS, they go way overboard. Enough of Rosie O'Donnell is gay or not or if Regis & Kelly really hate each other. Its really none of our business, what matters is the product they give to us.
Two fine shows

Radio is almost as bad. I still hear djs ( John Boy & Billy, Howard Stern, Opie, ect..) rat on Dana Plato and her life, slam Gary Coleman, make fun of Alan Thicke and Chris Burke from Live goes on. I always believe if you cant say something nice about someone then dont say nothing at all.

Most of these stars worked hard to get where they are today. Its a shame so many of them have to put up with the negative stuff in the press.

You bring up a very good point. That's why when I post information I always try to state where it's coming from.

I agree that alot of the gossip you hear is just that, gossip. Personally I'd rather talk about my favorite shows and remember some good shows. I can't speak on all of the rumors, but, I do know that Lucy and Vivian had an on again, off again friendship. Also, Vivian and William Frawley did not get along for a long time because Vivian refused to do any kissing scenes with William because he was much older than her.( Rember Vivian was actually younger than Lucy in real life) The only reason I know this is because on a vacation to California, I took a tour of Paramount studios. The tour guide showed us various places where the Arnaz's worked and lived while on the set. They did explain the rocky relationship between Lucy and Vivian and the problems between Vivian and William. It was very interesting stuff. You should go there if you ever get the chance.

I really haven't read that much stuff that is considered 'gossip' on these boards, and I've visited all the boards..and some of these are presented as truths.....the Jay North thing is true, cauz he appeared on television in the 80s, and later admitted these things. The Brady thing is true, it's in Barry Williams' "Growing Up Brady", etc.

Though, some people just come here to say some stupid tihngs. But most of us don't post like that
