Default Is it possible to like more than 4 shows from the 1960's?

This decade to me has always been the worst era for TV. The 50's was a lot better but for some reason the shows in this decade just seems very corny.

The only shows in this decade I can watch is Gomer Pyle and Gilligan's Island

All the other shows just seem sooooo boring lol

I think all those shows from the 60's did well because

1. That's all everyone had back then

2. No cable

3. No Internet

I think the 1960-60 era is one of the weakest era of Television which explains why I can't watch ME-TV

I like ZERO shows from the 60s. I'd much rather watch shows from the 50s like The Honeymooners or I Love Lucy.

The 60s sucked for television.

I love the 60's. For me it's the second best decade for tv after the 70's.

I'd probably rank it

70"s
60"s
80's
50's
90's
2010's
2000's

The last decade was the worse for sitcoms that I ever saw. There were some good dramas but comedies sucked. At least it seems to be improving this decade.

Too many great sitcoms from the 60's, easily my favorite decade for TV.

Andy Griffith Show
Get Smart
Dennis the Menace
Gilligan's Island
The Munsters
The Addams Family
Bewitched
The Dick Van Dyke Show
F-Troop
Gomer Pyle USMC
Green Acres
The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis
Mister Ed
The Monkees
My Favorite Martian
My Three Sons
Beverly Hillbillies

A great decade for dramas also

The Twilight Zone
The Outer Limits
The Invaders
Dragnet 1967
The F.B.I.
Star Trek
Adam 12
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Batman
The Green Hornet
Time Tunnel
Dark Shadows
Bonanza
Etc...

In order of preference:

60's
70's
50's
80's (haven't watched any sitcoms that have aired from 1990 to the present)

I agree with Zoneboy, I also think the 60's was the best decade for TV, although I'm mainly a fan of sitcoms. Westerns, dramas and cop shows aren't usually to my liking. By a wide margin, the majority of my favorite sitcoms are those from the 60's.

Another thing that made the 60's a great decade for TV was the variety shows that used to air in those days. Jackie Gleason had a show, Perry Como had a show, Bob Hope would have one on NBC now and then, but the show most people remember today is Dean Martin's show, he had an excellent show as well. Carol Burnett carried the torch of variety shows into the 70's, when her show was cancelled that was it for variety shows, the end of an era.

This is true, some 60's sitcoms tend to be on the corny side, that type of humor was popular in those days. F Troop is one example of a 60's sitcom with corny humor. But I would rather watch a corny 60's sitcom over any sitcom made today, today's sitcoms are all the same, distastefully done and one lame sex joke after another.

My Ranking:

1950s

1960s

1970s

1980s

1990s

2000s

2010s

I have ranked them according to IMO how great were each decade. As you can see I noticed declining a bit in the 1980s with the advent of Newsbreaks, the demise of the Television Code and the introduction of those cursed Infomercials and the 1990s with the advent of Prescription Drug Commercials, but these declines are nowhere near they have been since the dawn of the 21'st Century. IMO TV as I knew it "Jumped the Shark, with the advent of 'Unscripted' TV Shows, then the INSANE amount of additional advertisement, both commercials and "On Screen" Advertisments (That's "Pop-Ups" Logos, Scrolls and Banners for those of you in Rio Linda!). as you can see the drop for the last 12 years has been quite precipitous.

Gilligans Island is easily my favorite from this decade.

There are others I like such as The Munsters, I Dream Of Jeannie, The Dick Van Dyke Show, Bewitched, The Beverly Hillbillies and The Andy Griffith Show but all of those shows are shows I'd only watch if nothing else was on. They aren't favorites of mine.

This and the 50's were probably my least favorite decades (50s because I only know I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver).

I'd probably rank them:
90's
80's
70's
00's
10's
50's
60's
