Default Alice My Observation

I know it's early in Alice's season release, I'd like to address Linda's eye rolling comments I've heard...It seems this could be part of her character cause I've noticed that she rolls her eyes when she doesn't like something, she's done this to Mel as well as some of the other characters not just Flo in the later seasons. I also noticed that she tried to out do the other actors as in the scene when she and Flo did their cheer leader cheers.

Alice as a character was not as likeable as one would think a lead character for a sitcom would be...was she Archie Bunker? No, that isn't what I mean. But she was annoying often times--just like the movie version of the character. You can say she was really flawed and that made her more like everyday people.

I'm not either. I only remember the quality was so bad I couldn't even watch them. The reruns aired in the late '90s (TNN I believe) were so much better

I have alwasys said in the past that she was the most boring lead character ever on TV. Why was she the star? I don't know. She did not have that leading charisma to me. She was too Ms Goody too shoes. This show could have easily went on without her. Most people watched it for Flo anyways.

I'd say Vera was more of a "goody two shoes" than Alice.
Alice was more of the "straight-man" sort of woman. She was more "common sense" because she had to be, bringing up her son alone, in a strange town, with a puny waitressing job.

They tried that. It was called "Flo", remember that show? ...Neither do I.

I think there are a couple of episodes in the last season that Alice does NOT appear in.

Flo would have been more successful in the surroundings of Mels diner

I always wished Flo would have appeared on the final episode.

Flo and Mel were my favorite characters. They could have done just fine without Alice.

heh, mine too. I even have an audio tape of that episode I recorded back in 1980 when it aired on CBS weekdays. It had some scenes cut though. (it was missing all the dialog before Tommy rides into the diner on the motorbike)
