I was at my Niece's house yesterday and her 14 year old daughter with her 2 friend's happened to be there. They were talking about sitcoms they liked. I asked all 3 of them if they liked Happy days, and they shook their heads in confusion and said. "Never heard of it" I asked if they liked Facts of Life, which is very popular on this site. They repeated their reaction saying Still, never heard of it. I asked about Gilligans Island, expecting the same answer, but I got the shock of my life when their eyes opened in surprise. "YEH!" they said. "We love Gilligans Island" One of the girls even said it was the only show her mom and dad liked that she liked. They talked about the Professor and how they thought he was cool and that Ginger was beautiful. I guess this show had an amazing impact and is going to live on forever.

G.I. is truly one of those TV shows that can be called timeless!

That's a wonderful story! Also, I got my friend hooked on it who had never even heard of it before. (We live in the UK.)

it's a prime fantasy, being trapped on a tropical island.
It's like Robinson Crusoe, the novel by Daniel Defoe, first published in 1719. That's so long ago, it was out first on paper not Kindle. |
