Default Relatives

One confusing aspect about The Golden Girls is that there are inconsistancies when it comes to mentioning Blanche, Rose and Dorothy's families, so here's a list of family members:

Blanche's family:

Late-husband: George (seen in Mrs. Geoge Devereaux)
Daughter: Rebecca (actually seen) (the heavy set version and the artificial insemination version)
Daughter: Janet (actually seen in Home Again, Rose (Part 2))
Son: Biff (mentioned in Bringing Up Baby)
Son: Doug (mentioned in Bringing Up Baby)
Son: Skippy (mentioned in Bringing Up Baby as having asthma)

Father: Big Daddy (seen in Big Daddy and Big Daddy's Little Lady)
Mother: Margaret (seen in Mother's Day)
Sister: Virginia (seen in Transplant and Ebb Tide)
Sister: Charmaine (seen in Sisters and Other Strangers)
Brother: Clayton (seen in Scared Straight and Sisters of the Bride)
Brother: Tad (seen in the episode of The Golden Palace called Tad)

Niece: Lucy (seen in Nice and Easy)
Grandson (son of Janet): David (seen in On Golden Girls)
Granddaughter (daughter of Rebecca): Aurora (seen in Even Grandmas Get the Blues)
Granddaughter (daughter of Unknown): Melissa (seen in Beauty and the Beast)
Granddaughter (daughter of Janet): Sarah (seen in Home Again Rose (Part 2))
Uncle: Lucas (seen in One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest Part 1 and 2)

Rose's family:

Late-Husband: Charlie (mentioned in numerous episodes)
Daughter: Kirsten (actually seen in Home Again Rose (Part 2) and The Truth Will Out)
Daughter: Bridget (actually seen in Family Affair)

Adopted Mother: Alma (seen in Blanche and the Younger Man)
Natural Father: Martin (seen in Once in St. Olaf)
Natural Mother: Ingrid Kerclavaner (mentioned in Once in St. Olaf)
Sister: Lily (seen in Blind Ambitions)
Sister: Holly (seen in Little Sister)
Brother: Buddy? (I could have sworn she once mentioned him)

Cousin: Sven (seen in A Visit from Little Sven)
Granddaughter: Charlie (daughter of Kirsten) (seen in The Truth Will Out)

Dororthy's family:

Ex-Husband: Stan (seen in numerous episodes)
Son: Michael (seen in numerous episodes)
Daughter: Kate (seen in Guess Who's Coming to the Wedding? and Son-in-Law Dearest)

Mother: Sophia Petrillo (obviously)
Father: Salvadore (seen in numerous flashback episodes)
Brother: Phil (mentioned in numerous episodes)
Sister: Gloria (seen in The Monkey Show Part 1 and 2 and in The Custody Battle)

Aunt: Angela (seen in The Sisters and Long Day's Journey into Marinara)
Aunt: Theresa (mentioned in Heart Attack and Rose the Prude)
Uncle: Angelo (seen in numerous episodes)
Uncle: Vito (mentioned in Take Him, He's Mine)
Greatgrandmother: Grandma Petrillo (seen in Mother's Day)
Daughter-in-Law: Lorraine (seen in Mixed Blessing)
Grandchild: ?(Lorraine was expecting at the end of Mixed Blessing)
Sister-in-Law: Angela (married to Phil and seen in Ebbtide's Revenge)

That's all I can remember, I know there have been other relatives that were mentioned.

Cool couple corrections/additions

Blanche's family:

father: his name started with a C, and it escapes me at the moment, but it was mentioned in Wham Bam, Thank You Mammy. To which Blanche replied "No one ever called him by his first name, they all just called him Big Daddy!"
granddaughter (daughter of Janet): Melissa (seen in Beauty and the Beast)

Rose's family:

mother who adopted Rose (not step mother): Alma (seen in Blanche and the Younger Man)
natural mother: Ingrid Kerclavaner (mentioned in Once in St. Olaf)
granddaughter: Charlie (seen in the will episode with Kirsten)

Dororthy's family:

Aunt: Theresa (mentioned in episodes Rose The Prude and Heart Attack)
goddaughter: Jenny (seen in The Mangiacavallo Curse Makes a Lousy Wedding Present)
sister-in-law: Angela (mentioned a few times, seen in Ebbtide's Revenge)

That's from what I remember. Everything else is true to my knowledge.

Cool oh yeah

Dorothy's family:

daughter-in-law: Lorraine (seen in Mixed Blessings)

By the way...remember Lorraine was pregnant, and that's why Dorothy and Greta agreed to grit their teeth while they got married? Whatever happened to the baby? hmmmmmmmmmm...

Default Re: Relatives

I have a question about the list of relatives. How come you have Alma listed as being Rose's stepmother?? If anything, she would be Rose's adopted mother, wouldn't she? I'm confused!

Also, about Blanche's family, you left out her Uncle Lucas (Seen in One Flew Out of the Cukoo's Nest). At least, I didn't see him, maybe I just missed him LOL.

That first list was not complete, just what I remembered. I'm glad that you pointed out the Alma listing, yes I meant to have said adopted mother. I will go back and correct and add those.

Blanche's father's name was Curtis Hollingsworth. His name was mentioned in the episode where Blanche's "mammy" came back to tell Blanche about the affair. She tells Blanche that she and Curtis were lovers. Blanche replys that she is shocked -- she'd never heard anyone use Big Daddy's name before!

Question ummm, did NO one see my post?

Thanks for noticing I mentioned that Alma was Rose's adopted mother... (pathetic smiley, but about the closest to my face at the moment.)

CURTIS, thanks for reminding my poor excuse for a memory that Big Daddy's name was Curtis. I kept wanting to say Clive or Cleatus or something like that.

Default Confusing Families Need Family Tree

Great show but relatives are confusing. Sisters, children appear and disappear. Questions How many children did each Golden Girl Have ? How many brothers and sisters did each Golden Girl have ? What happened to Rose's mother ? Was Rose adopted and her father was a monk ? Did Blanche give her sister her kidney ? When show ended what happened to each Golden Girl ? Did Dorothy ever return to Stan ? It would be nice to create a Golden Girls Family Tree

I don't have much info, but this is what I know. "Did Blanche give her sister her
kidney"? No, Blanche's kidneys were to small. "Did Dorothy ever return to Stan"?
She almost did, but Stan wanted Dorothy to sign a pre-nuptial agreement, she declined then she called off the wedding.
The last two episodes Dorothy married Blanche's uncle(don't remember his name).
As far as sisters and brothers: Dorothy
had one brother and one sister, Phil and Gloria. Blanche had two sisters, Virginia and Charmaine. Sophia had one sister, Angela. I'm not sure about Rose. As far as children: Dorothy had Kate and Michael. I only know of 2 kids that Blanche had, Rebecca and Janet, there could be more. I only know of two kids that Rose had, Kirsten and Bridget, there
could be more. Sophia had Dorothy, Gloria and Phil. I hope this helps! Oh one last thing, a retired mormon school teacher gave Virginia her kidney.

Blanche's uncle's name was Lucas.
Didn't Sophia have a brother?Angelo? At least Angelo I think.I thought that, in one of her stories, she mentioned that she slept in the same bed as the four of her brothers, or something like that...I dont' remember exactly, but I think only Angelo and Angela were on the show.
Didn't Blanche mention some sons once? Skippy and ....I dunno. But I know she mentioned skippy.
Rose, let's see, Kirsten, Bridget, there's more I know, because she mentioned that all her children were concieved on Special St.Olaf holidays. And she mentioned four I think.
Dorothy had two kids, Michael and Kate. and two siblings, Phil and Gloria.
Anythign else you needed lol..I may not know it, but I coudl research a little.

I think Blanche also had a son Matthew, and of course she had her two daughers Rebecca and Janet (Don't know if they were mentioned here already, they probably were!) And Rose had a granddaughter Charlie. And Blanche has several grandkids. Hope that helps.

I had posted this at the beginning of the month on this message board with the topic called: Relatives

On Rose's family --

"Buddy" was an old high school flame. He came into town after being in a band in Europe. He told Rose that marrying Charlie was a mistake, so she dumped him (Myles also was in the show, and he thought he kicked him out).

George Deveraux had a brother that Blanche almost fell in love with. He looked identical to him (I think they were the same actor in two different episodes).

George also had an illegitimate son, David. He came to the house to sell encyclopedia's, and Blanche threw him out. He came back later and Blanche gave him a picture of George fishing. So, I know it's not direct relation, but she does have a "step-son" sort of thing.

Just something things...

Default umm yeah

You guys need to check the other posts before asking things like that. We made corrections and additions in "Relatives" lower on the list of topics. I think it's pretty accurate.
