Default Just once I wish I could have seen Cliff do one of these things

Watch a football game at a male friend's house

Go to a poker game with his male friends

Just would have like to see him have some male bonding time outside the house for a change so I could see him in a different way. The show just sends a message that once you are married there is no more time with your friends just the family.

He basically never had a male friend on the show

Cliff was Super Doctor, he really didn't have any free time, but he did play cards and Lawn Bowling with his father a lot.

I'm talking about him being at a male friend house without his FATHER or WIFE

Family members don't count!

Cliff needed to have a bowling night once a week with his guy friends. But ooops.....I don't think Claire allowed him to have any friends!

You know we saw James Evans and Dan Conner and George Jefferson around other men when they were not around their family. Everytime we saw Cliff around another man it was because the guy knew Russel or was the husband of one of Clair's girlfriends

Right. The only way the writers would have considered letting Cliff go bowling is if Claire could show up and beat the pants off of him.

Cliff preferred to go down in the basement and listen to his old jazz records. Maybe he didn't want company and just wanted to mellow out.

No buddies to chill with, sad.

And don't even get me started how foolish he looked when he went to that book discussion with clair and all those women

I don't know why you would be surprised, I'm talking about when you said that you would have liked to see Cliff at his male friends house. We never saw Dan or James at his friends house. And what was wrong with Cliff hanging out with his dad? His dad was probably one of his best friends. Also the Dr. Harmon was one of Cliff's friends, he wasn't just Clair's friend husband.

We saw Dan and James in the presence of other men when their kids or family was not around.

Dan always had a poker game with just him and the guys

James was at a bar with male buddies two times

We never saw cliff around other men without his father or wife

But Dan was at home and Roseanne always seemed to make her face seen. And the episodes that you're talking about with James, he wasn't there long, he was there to drink a beer and to clear his head, he never went to the bar just hang out with the boys, he never had friends over. At least with Cliff, his scenes with his friend/s were longer than a minute long. I think with married men it's a rarity to go out with your friends just to hang, especially when the married man has a wife and children at home. A lot of men work during the week and the weekends is family time.
