Default Why do 3s Company fans HATE Friends so much?

i gotta know, i heard alot of TC fans HATE friends and i wanna know why? do u think that Friends is too much like TC? i mean, ALOT of sitcoms are LIKE eachother... everyone copies everyone.. Lucille ball and John Ritter~Chrissy and Phoebe~blah blah.. i could go on... i mean... i honestly LOVE TC and Friends... but i dont see why others feel differently? i mean, there r ALOT of crap on TV now... i mean, i guess thats what i just think... i hate alot of popular shows... like Fraiser and Will and Grace and blah blah blah.... but my point is... why do ALOT of tc fans hate friends... it just seems like u cant find someone who like both? do u prefer one or the other better? i like them both the same... i LOVE tc 'cos its a classic, comedy with slapstick and john ritter.. but i love friends because the characters are different and funny. i sorta like friends better because they like CONTINUTE the story from where they left off and TC just kinda comes up with a new idea. anyway... my fave sitcoms are i love lucy, TC and Friends *not in order*

Default Thank you LucyCompanyPhan!!

I know!!! I mean, it's so cool, and they're so much alike, yet people totally HATE Friends. I don't think that Friends is JUST like TC. They do have certain likenesses, but it's not like they RIPPED-OFF Friends from Three's Company! Like it or not, Friends in 30 years will be remembered as a classic!! Probably even more than TC. I mean, if you got a group of people today and asked which they would rather watch, TC or Friends, I bet most would say Friends! I am not saying TC isn't good. I just just want people to like Friends too!! And I am trying to find out why you all don't!

I know what you guys mean...i used to hate friends until my best friend sat me down and made me watch it and it was really really funny and i loved it it beecame one of my favorites. i think the only reason why i liked it soo much is cause it reminded me of tc...soo i dont understand why people think its like a ripoff its pretty cool and it will probably be the top show on nick at nite in like 20 years...

Hmmm, I dunno. I like 3's Co., although it's not my fav show, but I admit I do hate Friends. The funny thing is that I do like the actors in Friends- I just think the show is poorly written. I'm sorry, but I haven't found any line in Friends that I can really laugh at- I think it's all lame.

Also it seems in Friends they get famous celebrities guest starring almost all the time, probably to boost ratings. And remember when they brought Wynona Rider to kiss Jennifer Aniston. I thought that was just a bunch of hype to get ratings. As far as the way they act, I also have to agree with Paula. The jokes are pretty lame and if I was a studio audience member I would only laugh to give them sympathy. I don't find Friends to be as near as funny or entertaining as 3's company. Almost in every episode of Friends its always about he's going with her and blah, blah, blah........

I was cracking up when I was watching Satuday Night Live, and they were making fun of a Friends comercial. They were playing that Enya music and they said they were going to mix the different combination of relationships between the Friends. But what really cracked me up was when they said "Possibly Ross and Monica? (will be going out together) Sorry we can't come up with better ideas."

I haven't seen the tv show Friends, but I have seen Three's Company numerous times. I would like to see Friends but I can't since it's airing against my reality show Survivor on Thursday nights. Oh well, I guess I will watch Friends in reruns or something.

I like Three's Company and I like Friends so I don't really fit into this category. There are a few similatities between the two shows but it's just not anything major. I'm guessing that there might be some Three's Company fans that were not too happy with the following scene from Friends....

(Cast of Friends watching Three's Company)

Chandler: I think this is the episode of Three's Company where there is some sort of mix up.

Phoebe: Oh, well then I've seen this one.

I really don't see why anyone wouldn't want to watch Friends because of that. I mean, TC was ABOUT misunderstandings mostly, so... it was a JOKE! Also, it can't be a rip-off, because Friends has Rachel pregnant, and no one in tc was ever pregnant, and none of the roomates ever dated another roomate seriously. And it isn't fair to say that Friends only gets rating becuase of hype, like TC never had any. TC was on the cover of Newsweek. Honestly, TC was a lot more silly ( in a good way ) than Friends. Also, Friends I believe has survived 9 seasons on top! No one from Friends ever left, then had a replacement, then another replacent. This is all my opinion. Thank you.

I see what your saying. I hope I didn't affend any Friends fans. I do like some of the actors in Friends though. And I did like the first and second seasons, but now I haven't been really into it. I'm into more of the classic and older sitcoms that's probably why I don't watch a lot of Friends or any other current sitcoms for that matter.

I HATE "Friends"....I hate "Friends"....IMO, "Three's Company" was a great show, and it had a lot of rip offs ("We Got it Made", "2 Guys & a Girl"), but "Friends" has got to be the worst...I've heard of how bad 'Made' was, but "Friends" seems worse. It's ok at times, but they ALWAYS have to rely on a cheap bathroom joke or a guest celebrity. Sure, TC did some of the first thing, but not as much as "Friends"...at least on TC, there was John Ritter with his physical comedy and Suzanne Somers with her 'Chrissy-isms'...Some people argue that "Friends" has a huge audience considering the age of cable....but "Three's Company" had huge ratings, and the audience for network shows aren't DOWN as much as between the ratings of the two shows. Also, on guest-celebrities. TC had few of them. Lucille Ball was one of them, all the others were mainly stars who would LATER hit stardom...such as Loni Anderson and Anne Scheden (sp?). "Friends" in it's eight season run (so far...TC could've had 9 seasons, if John Ritter hadn't left to do TAC), they've had Julia Roberts, Jean Calude Van-Dam (sp?), Brad Pitt, and others (Including Audra Lindley, Mrs.Roper) LOL

Why does everyone HAVE to like "Friends"? I kept getting asked 'Why don't you like the show', etc, but if they don't like a show that I like, then it doesn't matter. So why can't all the "Friends" fans just stop always badgering people to like "Friends"? This is the TC board after all, so you can't expect all of the people here to like the show!
