Default Why was Jack so concerned about what the food critic giving his Bistro a bad review?

I mean even if he did give it a bad review that was only one person's opinion kind of like how TV critics do when they evaluate new tv shows. Coming home depressed because of what a critic might say about the food at his bistro was so foolish

I guess Jack was so upset because the food critic was highly respected and whatnot. But, yeah, that's just one person's opinion. It's not like his food was being judged in some cooking contests with three or four judges.

keep in mind that it was still a fairly new restaurant and this was his first review - most new restaurants fail, and a single good review can really generate a lot of business

Exactly what I was going to say. His restaurant was pretty new so a review from a highly-regarded food critic could make or break his restaurant's reputation.

On a side note, I LOVE this episode!! Just watched it on Antenna!!

The whole office scene is hysterical!!

But for Jack to agree to write a nasty letter when he was a owner of his own Bistro was kind of dumb-lol Why would he agree to write a nasty letter and mess up his rep?

He was upset that the critic only took one bite and left and wanted to vent his anger, I guess. It actually could've gotten him into more trouble than a bad review had Janet not changed the letter's content!! We don't think very rationally when angry!!

He definitely wasn't thinking, his name would have been MUD tripper if Janet didn't change the letter

Janet was smart!! Not just in this episode, but in general. One of the things I loved about her character was how sharp she was and how she was so quick on her feet.

"Because the coast is clear!!!"

How did I know you were going to ask that?!?!

I've always wondered the same thing myself actually. I'm not really sure what he meant when he said that. Like did he mean he doesn't accept "bribes" anymore or that he just wasn't into what Janet was "offering?"

The actor who played the critic was brilliant in this episode!! I imdb'd him and it says he became a counselor!!! He was a great actor!!

Yes, that critic was very snobby and not polite at all.

I still think Jack was a bit babyish with the letter, but it was funny.
