Default This show will jump the shark if...

Raj is ever given a steady girlfriend.

Question

Why would it ruin the show if Raj got a steady girlfriend ? The writers might have to "forget about" his inability to speak to women, but people do overcome those difficulties, and The Big Bang Theory never revolved around that particular element . I don't see what difference it would make .

maybe because viewers are used to him having trouble with women that generated comedy but if he all of sudden became successful with women that would decrease some of the humor on the show.

Same thing if Leonard became less nerdy and stopped wearing glasses and became more manly around penny.

Two possibilities for a shark jump. Leonard and Penny get married. It would change the show's dynamics. Raj falling in love. He's never had success with women.

Yes Marriage kills a show quick

The show has been on long enough that most viewers would probably have a hard time getting used to seeing Raj with a girlfriend all of the sudden. I can't imagine there being a great deal of humor in any scenario that would permit Raj to have a successful love life. Besides, all of the other regulars are coupled off now. Lonely people need a character that they can relate to.

Marriage and a couple that you've wanted to get together since day one finally getting together can both kill a show, unfortunately.
I don't think this was the case for Jim and Pam on The Office though. It works in some instances, but in others, it doesn't.

Well keep in mind that the Office is a workplace comedy so the marriage is not really affecting that show too much since we never see the home life of Pam and Jim

Good point!! It's not the center of the show and the cast is an ensemble.

Exactly. That's why I was going to stop watching the show Whitney if they married her and Alex

Heart

I heard that they were going to look into Raj realizing that he's gay. The evening/date with comic store guy made that a plausible scenario.
