Movie Anna Paquin (Rogue) Cut from "X-Men: Days of Future Past"

Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart Coming Back for X-Men: Days of Future Past
by MIKE FLEMING JR.
Tuesday November 27, 2012

Here is a fun scoop for X-Men fans. Bryan Singer, who helmed the first two superb installments that launched the franchise at Fox and whom Deadline was first to reveal will helm X-Men: Days of Future Past, has just tweeted the following news:

I’d like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender and Nicholas Hoult to X-Men: Days of Future Past. Also thrilled to announce Sir Ian Mckellen and Sir Patrick Stewart.

How is that going to work with the actors playing both Magneto and Professor Xavier, in the same movie with Fassbender and McAvoy, who played those characters as young men in X-Men: First Class?

The movie is called X-Men: Days of Future Past, use your imagination,” Singer tells me. “More to come...

Bryan Singer Tweeted today that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore have rejoined the team for X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Last month Singer, who directed the first two chapters of the Fox franchise, also announced via Twitter that Hugh Jackman would regrow his claws for the followup to X-Men: First Class.

Major Change In This Summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past -- EXCLUSIVE
by Tim Stack
Dec 20, 2013

There will be one less mutant in this summer’s highly anticipated X-Men: Days of Future Past, which combines the casts of the original X-Men trilogy with those of 2011′s First Class.

Director Bryan Singer has revealed to EW exclusively that a rescue sequence — shot early in the film’s production and featuring Magneto (Ian McKellen), Professor X (Patrick Stewart), Rogue (Anna Paquin), and Iceman (Shawn Ashmore) — has been cut from the final film.

Sadly, this means that Rogue’s screen time has been cut.

"It’s a really good sequence and it will probably end up on the DVD so people can see it. But like many things in the editing process, it was an embarrassment of riches and it was just one of the things that had to go," director Bryan Singer explained.

"Unfortunately, it was the one and only sequence Anna Paquin was in, the Rogue character was in. Even though she’s in the materials and part of the process of making the film, she won’t appear in it."

The "True Blood" star was on the set one week for her filming and Singer praised her for her work.

"She did a fantastic job and was awesome in the sequence. She's a brilliant actress and I would work with her in a heartbeat."

Singer also went on to explain that Paquin completely understood the situation.

"It's very disappointing, but she's a professional and knows that this kind of stuff happens. Especially when you shoot so early in the production."

X-Men: Days of Future Past is set for May 23, 2014.

They need to include her scene in the dvd or create a Director's cut with her scene intact. I think it's disrespectful to her as an actress and a professional. He was wrong to cut her scene.
