Default Christmas Shopping

Has anyone started yet?

I have a love hate relationship with Christmas shopping. I love buying stuff for people but I hate thinking of what to get everyone and the actual buying it. I like to get it over and done with as soon as I can so I don't have to worry about it anymore. It seems like every year it gets harder and harder to come up with ideas for my family. I've bought a good chunk of stuff already. I am hoping for some online deals this weekend.

Last year when I was on the ice I bought everyone in my family a shirt from the McMurdo store. That was easy because that was about all I could get and send home.

You are going to hate me, but I did my Christmas Shopping this past May while I was in Albuquerque, New Mexico to see the Eclipse. The Native American Craft Shop had a Field Day with me!

I do 90% of my Christmas shopping online and I usually get started during the summer. I bought my last gift yesterday so I am finished! None of that Black Friday crap for me! I spend that day putting up my tree.

I've ordered my husband a gift online, it was something he wanted & it was also on sale at almost 50% off. No idea on what to get our son yet. All the other relatives are getting a Christmas card with some cash inside. I'm not going through another year of trying to please everyone with a gift when they will turn around & want to take it back.

And this is why we aren't exchanging gifts this year. Also for financially reasons but we decided a few months ago just to not exchange gifts, I rather use the money for something else. Isn't just spending time with family is what Christmas is all about anyway??

Since 1985, I've done my Christmas Shopping while I'm on Vacation. Every Year I go somewhere different, and I look for locally-made Jewelery and Handicrafts to give away. In 1999 everybody on my list got lumps of coal for their presents. (I toured a Coal Mine in Pennsylvania, and they had a craft shop that sold carvings made of Anthracite Coal). You know something, everyone liked it!!! Ten years later, whenever I'm visiting a friend or relative, if I see something I got them still on display, I know I got them "The Right Gift".

Oh No

I don't have much money this year & I'm not too happy with my sister. I would give them (my family) cupon books, but since they dont use 'em...I dunno what to give them this year, I may not give them anything.

I'm gonna do my shopping this weekend. I'm not waiting till the last minute anymore to do my shopping like i did before because it's too many people at the malls and it's snowing and i don't like driving in the snow.

I'm with you Ann. I find that people like GCs and cash. I know I do.

A bag of coal for you. Just kidding. You're going to LOVE your gifts that will be mailed on Monday. If you're a good girl, I'll give you the tracking number so you can drive yourself crazy all week.
